Title: Atlantis Season One Post Mortem

Saw the Siege last night, so now I've seen all of season one. Seeing as we haven't been discussing individual episodes very much, I was curious what people thought of the series as a whole.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with it. I was a bit skeptical when I first heard about it, but it seems to compliment SG1 very well. The set up in the pegasus galaxy works well, and I think the wraith are a decent villain (how can you not like space vampires?).

McKay is a great character, and could probably carry the show on his own. He is getting good double acts going with shepard and zelenka(sp). Shepard still seems a little wooden, but I'm getting used to that. I liked Weir to start with, but I'm a bit worried she is coming down with a case of the Janeways.

Yet another example of TV Sci-fi which is much better than Enterprise.

I've seen up to episode 16 so far, and I'm not overly impressed. There have been some very good episodes, however it feels that they have good runs of episodes (Underground through to The Eye), followed by low runs (the middle of the first half of S1 - can't remember the titles!; and The Defiant One through to Sanctuary) and so on.

Plus this crew has never really appealed to me - while a bland episode of SG-1 can still be fun to watch based on the cast, Atlantis just doesn't have this to fall back on - to be honest the only real character who's really appealed to me is the doctor, and to a lesser extent McKay!

However, despite my problems with Atlantis, I'm still enjoying it a lot more than Enterprise as well :)

Phillip's right on the inconsistency point. That being said, I've not had any real problems with the show this year. Taking into account it's the debut year, there have been some pretty good stories scattered throughout, and by the season close I've grown to like certain characters a litte more. The Worfette still annoys me from time to time, and Travis Mark II is still underexposed, but all in all, it could have been worse, as Enterprise proves.

On the point of the finale The Siege, I have to say I found that quite impressive.

Worfette

Its not been perfect, but for a season one, its done pretty well. It hasn't built on the characters as much as I'd have liked, but it sounds like they have taken that into account for season two. I would like to see more characters getting screen time in S2., for example, the sexy psychiatrist from the gift.

I don't know why they haven't done anything with Ford. He seems like he could be a good character, but the script writers seme to have forgotten he's there. Why do scriptwriters bother creating characters they are not going to use?

Easy answer to that one Bakhesh. It's because scriptwriters don't create the characters, they're just stuck trying to give them stuff to do ;)
