Title: Your Current Favorite Song?

Krazy - January 31, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
What is the song you can't get enough of at the moment? I think i'd go with Eminem's Toy solider. ;)

laughitupfuzzball - January 31, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
Still Gwen - What you waiting for

Can't get it out of my head

Persephone - January 31, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
If you mean currently getting heavy rotation atm, it has to be The Chemical Brothers - Galvanise

Margot C - January 31, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay (I Promise)

Ditto. Also Kylie's "I believe" :ph43r:

And although I didn't like it to start with, the chemical brother's song has severely grown on me.

I like the Toy soldiers chorus, but only because I liked the original Martika version.

Can't of owt else at the mo.

Jo - January 31, 2005 10:45 PM (GMT)
Definately- The Killers Somebody Told Me, though that has been my fav for some time, as well as the rest of their album... but also Galvanise, great tune

Persephone - January 31, 2005 10:47 PM (GMT)
M it does grow on you. At first all it reminded me of was the theme to The South Bank Show, but if you play it really loud, it's ace

goth willow fan - January 31, 2005 10:48 PM (GMT)
Current favourite is Sonne, Rammstein and Mutter is my favourite album.

Oh and quick check of the chart reminds me of Wires by Athlete, and Staring at the Sun by Rooster is quite nice too. Oh and the Killers - good album too. :)

WTF are Hanson doing back in the chart?! :o

And why are there 3 Elvis songs there too.

Persephone - January 31, 2005 10:59 PM (GMT)
I know about the Elvis songs, cos some muppet preordered all 18 re releases before Xmas. We're in for an Elvis revival :x

Should hopefully be forgotten by May day

Saw their last 2 minutes at Reading a few years ago - it was like the original Spitting Image Pet Shop Boys unplugged sketched - someone please pull the plug and shut the knob-twiddling tw*ts up :p

No Guitar, No Good - my mantra :)

At the moment I adore Oxygen by Willy Mason, I heard it for the first time on the radio a couple of days ago and instantly loved it, downloaded it and have had it on repeat for days... I'm cool like that. B) Athlete -Wires & The Chemical Brothers - Galvanise are favourites at the mo too. Not too sure about Toy Soldiers, I would've considered myself to be a pretty big Eminem fan 'til his latest album, which I found really disappointing :shit:

Persephone - January 31, 2005 11:12 PM (GMT)
I used to be like that (and still am the majority of the time) but I've been to too many Tribal Gathering gigs not to be somewhat corrupted ;)

That reminds me something else I saw in the charts Phix - Strangelove

Please tell me thats not a cover of Depeche mode :fear:

LoobiLou - January 31, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
At this current moment in time, and a few million moments before it, my favourite songs are:

No Doubt - Rock Steady (Live version)
No Doubt - Simple Kind Of Life

(I feel a concert rewatch coming on :D )

Also, Kid Rock - Bawitdaba, It always gets repeated when The Shield soundtrack's on ;)

Margot C - January 31, 2005 11:40 PM (GMT)
I kinda like Galvanise too - hated it at first, but it gets played so much that it's grown on me.

I love Wires as well, but I'm getting sick of it now, because XFM have been playing it for ages, and now suddenly it's everywhere. I hate when songs I like get overplayed :(

That athlete song, complete rehash of every other guitar band that's around at the moment - how can that possibly be more original than the Chemical Brothers :p

Because "artists" like the chemical brothers don't write music - they rip off other peoples as a starting point. - plaigirism is their basis.

Don't love Wires and think its pretty derivative but still beter than Galvanise.

Persephone - February 1, 2005 09:06 AM (GMT)
Neil stop being such a snob :o

I know where you're coming from, but to be honest, there's only so much you can do. Nothing is original anymore, everything's already been done, bands have 3 options, carry on sounding exactly like everything that's already gone, do more bloody cover versions,or experiment with what's around.

I'll take the latter thanks

:)

laughitupfuzzball - February 1, 2005 09:39 AM (GMT)
I take each song/album as it comes, music is hugely diverse and thats a good thing :)

Most pap around isn't created by the supposed artist but some shameless record producers taking advantage of those who would do anything for fame.

When records are created by the artist, whether it be sampling etc, its has still be created by an artist and is far superior to the mindless backing provided for vocalists who don't get involved.

:)

It's the best way to be Alex, it's being open minded :)

Laura - February 1, 2005 12:35 PM (GMT)
Athlete - Wires
The Used - Take It Away
Green Day - BOBD
Taking Back Sunday - Cute Without the E
Feeder - Tumble and Fall

Okay so how many Classical, jazz, soul, proper R&B, modern R&B, rap, techno and pop CDs do you own?

Most people who say they are "open minded" when it comes to music actually mean they like safe, unadventourous pap. Its having a "narrow mind" for a certain style that breeds passion imo.

I think theres enough range in what I do listen to to suit every mood while stirring my soul - it doesn't mean I'm unwilling to listen to anything new but I trust my instincts and usually I get it right.

Nick - February 1, 2005 07:01 PM (GMT)
iirc your favourite albums, there isn't any range at all (most of them are excellent though).

Narrow-mindedness doesn't breed passion, good music does :)
