QUOTE
Forty years after the Cylon Wars, humanity's deadliest enemies have reemerged with a vengeance. In a sudden, devastating nuclear attack, the Cylon robots — who have now taken human form — wipe out billions of people. Only a ragtag fleet of Colonial forces is left to shepherd humanity's few survivors to safety. Commander William Adama, a veteran of the Cylon Wars and the highest-ranking military officer left alive, reactivates the Battlestar Galactica to once again face his greatest nemeses. His son, Lee, call sign "Apollo," joins the fight alongside the fleet's best pilot, Kara Thrace, call sign "Starbuck." With the president and most of his senior cabinet killed in the attack, Secretary of Education Laura Roslin is sworn in as the new President of the 12 Colonies of Kobol. As Adama and Roslin debate whether to fight or flee, the Cylons launch a sneak attack on the new president's ship.

Are we doing a rewatch already? Or is this a catch up for those who may have missed it? Either way, I'm onboard.

I loved the miniseries. Part one was spectacular. The CGI (metal cylons) were breathtaking, but the standout plot point was that the new generation cylons looked like humans :fear:

Baltar, unlike the original series, is not bad, just stupid, and unable to keep it in his pants  Therefore, a perfect target for Number 6 to use and corrupt.

I liked the fact that they moved away from everyone using lasers in the fight scenes, the missiles added a further grittier realism to the show. The frightening use of the nukes was devastating. (I'm always horrified when they use nukes in a movie or tv show, just because it could actually happen :fear: :fear: )

The first episode really does hook you on the show, I remember the first time I watched the dvd. I just couldn't wait to watch part 2. That's a feeling that continued all the way through the series as well (a rarity, I bore easily  )

All in all, a great opener.

Yeah I'm onboard for this as well

I remember when the mini aired on Sci-Fi I was fortunate enough to wait for the second part before I watched the first, otherwise the wait would have been agonising !!

For saying it's three hours, the time absolutely flew by. From the very beginning, with the direction and tone it's clear that this is a different, better Galactica. To think, before this aired, the promo shots coming out made the show look absolutely awful, I'm thrilled to have been so wrong.

I wasn't actually preparing a structured rewatch as such.

This is actually the first time I have watched them all :)

But I noticed that not all the eps had their own thread with a teaser on the top, so I was putting that right.

I'm using the Scifi channels ep guides as Sky ones are far too detailed, so the rest will have to wait for sci fi to screen the eps.

Ah, diligent modding Paul, very good ;) B)

The TVTome guides are usually quite good Paul, I use those for the B5 teasers.

I'll check those out for the rest then :)

Most of them look brief enough, except Six Degrees of Separation which goes into chapter and verse for some reason

Yep it sure did, so I just used about half the first paragraph :)

Bloody hell that was good! I watched it at about 2 this morning as soon as it finished downloading, it was well worth the 4 days of slow surfing :D

Two or three things that stood out were the pace that all the information on people, places, wars ect was set up. It was very easy to take in. It seemed a lot but it was all revealed and told in a way which was very easy to absorb. Secondly was the stylish CGI and shaky Firefly style camera angles. Thirdly was the sheer quality of everything, the scene with the baby towards the beginning was very memorable :tear:

Overall it was excellent  I also watched part two straight after, couldn’t wait :)

Wow, fantastic ! I wasn't really sure what to expect as I hadn't heard anything about BSG ever, I just felt like watching a new show and thought if they've got a forum for it here, it must be good . And I wasn't disappointed.

Really amazing special effects and also loving the shaky cam. I wasn't sure if I'd get a bit confused with the story, because as far as I understand there was a series many years ago, right? And I wasn't sure if it would follow on from that or not. But it was all very clear, and it completely drew me in. Like Rob, I watched the second part of the mini straight after and episode 1x01 straight after that.

Brilliant :yahoo:
