D'Argo and Jool have a plan to save the gang, while Grayza discovers that John Crichton is a difficult catch to hold onto, and Scorpius suffers what may be his final betrayal...

A great second part

Poor John having to go back to distract Grayza for a couple of hours. It is implied that she has raped him and yet D'Argo and Sikozu want him to buy them some time buy going back, this does seem a little harsh

They are certainly quite adult episodes with the treatment of Scorpy and then Ben in Bondage  not that I'm complaining ;)

Great scene when John turns the tables on Grayza and her inability to grasp that he was no longer under her thrawl.

Scorpy gets killed :o and also gives Sikozu a code word which saves her life buying himself an ally if he gets out of this.

From being in a strong position the team manage to turn it round on the peacekeepers, Rygel getting the Leviathon to cripple their ships and D'Argos Lolan proves most effective.

Great shoot out against the peacekeepers in the tunnels although they did seem to fight them off quite easily.

It is actually the last scenes that are the most enjoyable however, John's fight with the creature from the black lagoon underwater is great and :lmao: @ John for wanting to get Winona back - oh and also at Noranti for throwing it in the water in the first place to get him to follow.

Great to see Chi saving John  and the planet returning to its former self after the triangle has been created. Love the appearance of the temple and I was quite touched by Jool's departure from the crew bidding her farewells.

Superb ending loved it

Well, to be honest i thought these 2 Eps were a huge disappointment after the adrenaline of 'Crichton Kicks'. I did like, don't get me wrong, but they just weren't the same standard.
The whole plot was a bit contrived, although they mamnaged to make it w**k somehow, and i think the whole thing was some sort of perverted homage to Dr Who :toomuchtv:
You know, sea monster, priests, cave system, invisible radiation, mad archaologist,
with a Blakes 7 character thrown in for good measure.

Yes, the themes were very adult, almost titilating (as Kenneth williams would say), and the final sacrifice of Elack brought me to tears. Poor old girl, i would love for her to have met Pilot, and i think even Rygel felt sorry for her :(

I see your point

This second part is much better than the first. There is much more drive and direction about it than the previous part and, with what appears to be the climactic event happening just over halfway through, there is time for a decent sting in the tail and and the chance to say goodbye to another member of the family.

Scenes to savour:

The early plotting between D'Argo, Sikozu and John:

QUOTE
JOHN: Man! I'm not goin' anywhere near that woman again!
D'ARGO: John, you have to see her one more time.
JOHN ( laughing scornfully ): Screw you.
D'ARGO: Well, to use one of your expressions, you're gonna have to take one for the team.
JOHN: Technically I've taken two.
D'ARGO: And now, it's time for the triple.

The brilliant one between Sikozu, Jool and Chiana in the cell, which ends with that wonderfully timed double kick on the Peackeeper guards.

The slightly more adult themed one between Crichton and Grayza. At least we now understand where her mysterious ability comes from (a Dellos Concubine's gland has been implanted, releasing Heppel oil, the perfume of which targets the erogenous zones - only on Farscape  ), and that she may have committed herself to an early death as a result.

The "death" of Scorpius. That was almost a shock.

The magnificent final flight of Elack, a quite majestic special effects sequence, the only downside of which is that it doesn't last long enough. And her Pilot's final action, targetting the Marauders as they crash into Arnesk's surface. :tear:

Love the gunfight between John and Braca's sentries (not sure about Crichton presenting his bum to Braca though :lmao: ).

And then that twist, as they return to the surface in the damaged Lo'La, and realise that they will die within an hour unless they find the final Darnaz probe, only to learn that it was the Oo-Nii that wanted the probes for nefarious means all along, and not Vella as the old woman had previously indicated.

Cue the big finale, the fight, the frantic scarmble to get the probes w**king and reverse the magnetic summer.

Brilliant

And then there's the farewell to Jool, as she decides to stay on Arnesk with the newly reappeared priests who have 12,000 cycles of catching up to do. Again, it's done with a fair degree of subtlety from all concerned. I'm always kind of sad to see her go.

Grayza, meanwhile, is finding it hard to conceal the embarrassment at her failure, warning Braca that he will pay should she hear anything said about it, but she refuses to give up on her quest for Crichton's knowledge, and yet again John has an insane military commander chasing after him.

And the old woman finally gets a name.

QUOTE
RYGEL: Great... we're hunted by Peacekeepers, towing a dead module, lost in the Uncharted Territories with no purpose in life. How good does it get?
WRINKLES: Oh, no. One of us has a purpose. Don't you, Crichton?
JOHN: Hey, Grandma... Why'd you tried to kill me?
WRINKLES: If Grayza asked...couldn't have you giving her the Darnaz Probes. Better you dead than millions, if she misused them.
JOHN: What's your name, old woman?
WRINKLES: Uta-Noranti-Pralatong.
JOHN: Well, Noranti... you're right. I do have a purpose.

Just thinking though, compared to Zhaan's departure I wasn't that upset by Jool staying behind.

Even if Zhaan had been planted as intended and left I think I still would have cried at her departure, Jool though had only just been starting to grow on me.

willowroolz - February 6, 2005 11:37 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure. For my part, I found that they didn't do enough with Zhaan most of the time. Jool had a bit of spark, and she caused some friction, which always makes it interesting for the other characters. :)

laughitupfuzzball - February 6, 2005 09:16 PM (GMT)
I thought Zhaan was an intriguing and complex character. She could be the most peaceful type creature wise and compassionate and then at other times ruthless and snappy.

Jool was more superficial and definitely improved when they wrote more comedy for her but just not interesting enough as a character.

willowroolz - February 7, 2005 08:30 PM (GMT)
You're right, there were definitely more layers to Zhaan, I just wish they'd made more of the character, I'm sure there was a lot more potential there.

Having said all that, I much prefer Sikozu to either of them :ph43r:  ;)

 Oh you had to spoil it with that last comment didn't you

Just out of interest, why did they get rid of Jool and replace her with Sikozu?

laughitupfuzzball - February 22, 2005 05:27 PM (GMT)
I know that Tammy had major allergic reactions to the make up, maybe why, I don't remember exactly :)

melian - February 22, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
Damn those allergic reactions

laughitupfuzzball - February 22, 2005 05:33 PM (GMT)
 Kind of dictate the cast

I'm allergic to most normal make ups so heaven knows what I'd be like, that stuff would probably kill me :o

willowroolz - February 22, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
The shame of it is that they had changed the make-up for season 4 which had cut out her allergic reaction, but she had already landed a part in a show called All Saints, although they were planning to bring her back in season 5 :)
