Title: Bsg Noob

LoobiLou - January 27, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
I’ve got some HD space to fill and need a new show to get into, would I have to see the original season? It looks a bit too dated to get into, but the new mini series looks good. Is there anything I need to know before watching them?

I’m looking on TorrentSpy and they’ve got them all, although I can’t see the TV-movie? Assuming that starts of the new lot?

Persephone - January 27, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
I think that's all the eps Rob, should be 13 in total, plus the mini. There isn't a TV movie, unless you count the one that cme out in 1980

You really do need to see the mini series first, and no to the original series, not needed at all :)

There's no telly movie? What about them two at the top of the list?

I gave it a two seasons go when it first came on :p Am sure I’ll return to it at some point when things are a little slow

Btw, who’s that bloke in your sig? the one that looks like a turtle in bondage  looks familiar – may have seen him in some later eps

laughitupfuzzball - January 27, 2005 09:41 PM (GMT)
:lmao: turtle in bondage :lmao:

Ok Ok worth a try :p

willowroolz - January 27, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
Don't exaggerate, Rob - you gave it one season and a few episodes, and checked out before it really took off

LoobiLou - January 27, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
*grumble grumble* I will do at some stage ;) The only really off putting thing that springs to mind is Rigel <_<

laughitupfuzzball - January 27, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
:) You would grow to love him - really

willowroolz - January 27, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)

Ain't nothin' wrong with Sparky/His Lowness Rob. Just takes a little getting used to that's all ;)

goth willow fan - January 27, 2005 10:14 PM (GMT)
Sparky is great once you get past the "he's an annoying puppet" phase (which admitedly some people find hard) *looks accusingly at Rob*

LoobiLou - January 27, 2005 11:08 PM (GMT)
*trys to think of a diplomatic, pleasing answer

f*ck Sparky :)

Is he some sort of electrical thing? I thought he was just a big fat slug thing?

Persephone - January 27, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
Sparky - Electrician, sorry it's a nickname round here, for those that fix electrical things

LoobiLou - January 27, 2005 11:37 PM (GMT)
Ah yes, of course

So it’s just the things in that list I need? Nothing prior?

goth willow fan - January 27, 2005 11:39 PM (GMT)
Nope the story starts from scratch in the mini - there is no connection to the original series at all. In fact you'd be very confused if you watched the original first, some of the characters are a bit different

Persephone - January 27, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)
Just slightly ;)

Crichton Kicks - January 27, 2005 11:46 PM (GMT)
In light of Rob's Sparky comments;

No Rob, you really have to watch Galactica 1980 prior to watching the new series. You won't understand what's going on if you don't check those masterpieces of television out.....

LoobiLou - January 29, 2005 01:04 AM (GMT)
Does this have all the ones I need? Mini plus series?

Yep, that'll do you Rob

LoobiLou - January 29, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
It’s taking it’s time <_< might be a couple of days at these speeds, although I’m sure it’ll be worth it judging by the way you all speak of it :)

Crichton Kicks - January 29, 2005 10:17 AM (GMT)
Number Six hit the nail on the head Rob, it's the best first season of any show I've ever seen.

That includes B5 and The X Files ;)

Well worth the wait

Surely not better than Firefly, James! :o

(Is anyone planning a rewatch soon? If not I’ll just watch them all back to back :ermm: )

Edit: Better than Angel .......Does not compute

It's difficult comparing it to Firefly as Firefly's one of the most character-driven shows I've ever seen. Whilst Galactica has a very strong rank of characters, it's focused more on the overall story.

It's better than Angel's first season. ;)

I know Phillip's got it to watch, and I think Paul planned on going through them again. Might join you as well I think

LoobiLou - January 29, 2005 11:02 AM (GMT)
It’ll take me a few days to get them all, Who will run it?
