Oh good - means that I should be over there until just before the mid-season break (episode 11 if I remember correctly :))

Given how 'Rising' is to be broadcast on the 16th of July, and 'New Order' has to resolve 'Lost City' and set up Atlantis, I think this will mean we're getting both episodes of New Order on the same day!

Crichton Kicks - May 16, 2004 02:51 PM (GMT)
You know I wasn't a big fan of the old "mid season break" but I must admit I'm getting used to it now. Especially considering that it leaves only a couple of months inbetween seasons. I know they went this way with Farscape as well for the last season (maybe even the third as well), wonder if they'll do that with Battlestar for it's second season, assuming that;

a) it's renewed for a second season, and
B) that the second season is a full season of 22 episodes.

Phillip Culley - May 16, 2004 03:04 PM (GMT)
When thinking about it, the mid-season break works well - I think I'd much rather have two continuous blocks (albeit with longer breaks between episodes), rather than this 'stop and start' method which series like Enterprise use, with random weeks off between episodes.

Crichton Kicks - May 16, 2004 03:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah you're right. I think in many ways though we have it worst over here of all. Personally I'd still rather have the stop-start nature of the US networks than our show them all and then wait 6 months for new episodes style :(

Although, you're right, the two blocks is the best possible solution.

Phillip Culley - May 17, 2004 12:56 PM (GMT)
Well, you can argue that the BBC went for the stop/start nature too :D

Except we didn't get reruns, we got golf :)

Thought I'd exercise my Mod powers and pin this to the top, so we can have a nice, easily accessible list of the episodes :)

Sci-Fi kicks off July with 'The Lowdown'
MAY 24, 2004

The Sci-Fi Channel will launch its summer of Stargate with a brand new behind-the-scenes special, the network announced today. "From Stargate to Atlantis: A Sci-Fi Lowdown" will air Monday, July 5, at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific!

"This one-hour special goes inside the upcoming eighth season of Stargate SG-1 and gives viewers their first look at its all-new companion series, Stargate Atlantis," the network said. "'The Lowdown' brings audiences up to speed on the adventures of the SG-1 team and how their discoveries have led to the creation of Stargate Atlantis. The special features interviews with the casts and crews of both Stargate series, including Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks from SG-1, and introduces the cast of Stargate Atlantis."

Sci-Fi also confirmed that SG-1 will premiere with the entire 2-part episode "New Order" on July 9. Atlantis takes its bow on July 16, also with a 2-hour premiere.

Starting July 23, the two shows will be paired together on Friday nights, with SG-1 airing at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, followed by Atlantis at 10 p.m.

So, the same as last year, a Low Down feature followed by the 2 hour series premiere. Great !!!

First details on SG-1's 'Prometheus Unbound'
JUNE 2, 2004

General George Hammond (Don S. Davis) will return in an upcoming episode of Stargate SG-1, set to go before cameras in a few weeks! "Prometheus Unbound" will air in mid-Season Eight, either late this summer or early in 2005.

Beware of spoilers in the report below!

Daniel Jackson and General Hammond are on board the Prometheus, Earth's deep-space vessel, when the ship receives a distress call from a crippled Goa'uld ship. They investigate and find a cargo ship and an Al'kesh adrift, but Prometheus is soon stolen by a woman named Vala -- with Daniel Jackson on board. He finds himself her prisoner, and eventually convinces Vala to explain her reasons for stealing the ship.

Vala -- in her 20s and strikingly beautiful -- is the last of a team sent to obtain a vessel for use by her people. They are very much like the humans of Earth, Daniel discovers. They were once slaves to the Goa'uld, but long ago rose up against them. They stole Goa'uld technology and used it to their advantage, winning many battles. But the System Lord Baal finally brought his power down upon them and crushed the resistance, occupying their world. Only a handful escaped to a nearby moon, in the hopes of one day finding a new home for their people.

Vala's mission is to secure a ship to take them to that home. Her team had succeeded in stealing the Goa'uld cargo ship, but the ship was damaged and her team killed when the Al'kesh attacked.

Meanwhile, Hammond and at least some of the Prometheus crew -- including Colonel Lionel Pendergast, the ship's new commanding officer (who also appears in "New Order"), and Novak (probably an engineer) -- have been left stranded on board the damaged Al'kesh. The engine's control crystals are unusable, as are the ship's long-range communication systems. Hammond and the crew must rely on Jackson to convince his captor to turn the Prometheus around ...
