The aging Centauri emperor travels to Babylon 5 despite his failing health. Refa sees this as an opportunity to have Londo publicly embarrass the emperor, while G'Kar prepares to assassinate him.

Just in case anyone didn't know, this one won a Hugo award for Best Dramatic Presentation

Cracking ep! From the title I suspected it would be a pivotal episode, and I wasn't wrong.
So agonising to see G'kar holding out the hand of peace to Londo when in reality it was already too late for reconciliation. Wonder if Londo was having the teensiest regret at that point?
Nice to see Sinclair again, to see that he hasn't just been forgotten about, and there is still hope that the prophecy will come into play at some point in the future.
Er, yeah anyway, looking forward to the next one. It'll be interesting to see what the atmosphere on B5 will be like now that two of the nations are at war. :D

That scene, the one just before the news breaks, where Londo knows and G'kar doesn't is just agonising. Londo's whole path has been focused and shaped partially by the inability of both of them to find somekind of reconciliation, yet here, on the brink of war, it is. Andy Katsulas and Peter Jurasik deserve plaudits indeed for that scene.
Great episode, more once I've rewatched it.
The Sinclair clips btw, were recorded at the end of Season 1 before MoH left the show ;)

Tony's 3rd Law of Babylon 5 states that the more Londo and G'Kar are in an episode then the quality of that episode will rise in direct proportion to the amount of air time accumulated by them both. (Actually, I just made that up) :toomuchtv:
Seriously though, the scene between G'Kar and Londo where Londo first thinks G'Kar is going to kill him and the expression on his face when he realises what he's done is brilliant. I'm also enjoying the Centauri succession subplot. Refa is shaping up a pretty good slimeball.
Good to see that Sinclair hasn't entirely left.

Fecking excellent - the best episode so far :)
It's amazing it can still get better than this!

It's perhaps one of the outstanding achievements of B5, that as good as this episode is, there are a few more that just operate on a whole different level of brilliance :o

This episode is superb, the first really hugely pivitol ep, ther's no going back now for the Centauri and Narn! Londo is now set on a path that he seems to be having grave misgivings about but is in too deep to stop.
That scene between Londo and G'Kar is heartrending.
Right off to watch GROPOS and I'll be back up to date

What a blinding episode, I thought considering it is what the whole season is called it would be a good one but that is just an understatement.
Very nice to see SINCLAIR again, I hope that wont be the last time.
Very well acted by all the principal stars in particular the scene between Londo and G'Kar and the pain on Londo's face over what he has done. The image in his dream about his own future seems pivotal as well we shall see.
Cannot wait to watch some more now that i have this box set and 3 and 4 in the house.
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT

Yeah, it's a cracker this one. It won a Hugo award back in '96

Just rewatched it. In a word: stunning :yahoo:
Just have to say how amazing Andreas Katsulas was in this ep. It made me quite sad watching him :(
Got more to say but haven't got time at the mo, so I'll return to it later

As I mentioned above, this episode has the best scene of the entire series for me, the one with G'Kar extending the hand of friendship in hope to Londo. PJ and AK were simply amazing. The one thing that always struck me with AK's performances, not just here, but throughout the series was just how much emotion he could convey even under all the prosphetics.
For me, B5 was always at it's very best when these guys were bouncing off each other;

That is a fantastic scene
I also like the one where Sheridan stops G'Kar from going after Londo
Great to see Londo's dream, that he mentioned way back at the start of s1. I think Vir is terrific in this one, too. His "Londo, don't do this" line is one that has always stuck in my head, and that he will remind Londo of this conversation in the future, leading to Londo's:
"I understand... just fine. By this time tomorrow, we will be at war with the Narns. May the Great Maker forgive me."
Kind of disappointing that Mr Morden doesn't actually appear in the episode, but there's so much else going on I guess there wasn't really room.
Turhan Bey is also excellent, and I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Malachi Throne ever since The Menagerie.
Londo seems to sway between reticence, horror and enthusiasm in this episode. One minute he's telling Vir that the situation is making him feel uneasy, the next he is setting the Shadows on the Narn colony. :ermm:
Refa's reaction to the emperor's final words just about sums him up
And, again, AK is superb. The scene when he turns up at the Council meeting towards the end and quietly announces that the Narn have declared war is another one of my favourites.
Great to see Sinclair again. I didn't realise that Fredric Lehne/Lane has changed the spelling of his surname. JMS's like for Lord of the Rings shines through in this ep, with the introduction of the Rangers etc. There's a definite sense of things starting to snowball, that epic events are afoot.
The space battle sequences are the best yet (one particular shot of the Narn fighters flying towards the Centauri ships is jaw-droppingly beautiful).
Again with the stunning :yahoo:
