Title: Can't Wait Till Monday.
Description: Possible spoiler for episode aired 03/01
jamiearmour - December 29, 2004 02:25 AM (GMT)
The episode title "Hand of God" and barring an appearance from Maradonna, I'm expecting good things from this:
Adama decides it is time to take the fight to the enemy........
Finally, Galactica lives up to the title "Battlestar" :D
Crichton Kicks - December 29, 2004 01:51 PM (GMT)
This is the only 'remake' of an episode from the original series amongst the first season. Should prove interesting. I still haven't watched the OS DVDs yet, I may well pop the original episode in first to see how this new one's different

At last something to celebrate, I've moaning how depressing the viewing has been, and at last the humans get a break.
Brilliant episode, loved Baltar's bit at the end

Excellent stuff, really enjoyed this one. Well, I'm enjoying the whole series and if I ever w**k out wtf is going on I'll probably enjoy it even more.
Nick - January 6, 2005 12:55 PM (GMT)
 how true, I've lost count of the times when I've asked myself where are they going with this?
Hovis - January 6, 2005 02:38 PM (GMT)
Again, excellent!
I can't believe just how good this show is becoming. Better and better each time. As everyone else says, just wtf is going on! I keep thinking I'm getting a handle on things, something comes along to throw a spanner in the works.
The only negative cloud on the horizon is that there are only, what, three episodes to go now? How will we all survive until season 2? There is going to be a season 2, right?

Sci-Fi has apparently commissioned 6 eps of s2 already, depending on the ratings in the US, the remainder will get commissioned I presume
>fingers crossed<

It's rumoured that the decision regarding season 2 will be made pretty quickly once the show starts airing.
The only problem for us in the UK may be the massive gap inbetween seasons. if Sky can secure another 'exclusive' deal then it won't be as bad, as we'll still get them first, probably in six months or so (maybe a little longer), but if they don't then we could be in for a hell of a wait.
I'm trying to remember a show that had such an outstanding first season as BSg seems to be having. I've gone back as far as The X Files before I find anything even remotely close.
Number Six - January 7, 2005 12:51 PM (GMT)
It's the US ratings that bother me. :fear: I'm a little nervous about what the Americans will make of it. Is it messing about with the old series too much for them?
Crichton Kicks - January 7, 2005 05:57 PM (GMT)
I think the US ratings would be fine, with the positive word of mouth from this side of the pond, but the concern is, just how many Americans will have d/l the episodes already ??

I agree the problem is definitely the downloading and I think this is why Ron Moore made those comments last year - the implication is that the ratings will be poor.
What do they need for renewal??? :)

No one knows Sci-Fi's exact requirements for a speedy renewal, but the fact that they've already commissioned six scripts for a second season, together with them looking to make a rapid decision on a formal renewal is a positive sign.
We just have to hope that people tune in for those first few weeks. To be honest, I'm sure Sci-Fi are aware of the problem of d/l. If anything I can see them greenlighting a second series come what may, and possibly not farming it out to Sky One first next year. That way they can accurately see what the numbers would be.
jamiearmour - January 8, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
From what I hear the numbers are "very good" for Sky over here, and as they part finance the show, I would say that there is hope for a second series.
Do you see now Angel that downloading everything in sight is bad  :innocent:

Bakhesh - January 9, 2005 03:01 PM (GMT)
So, how many eps are we getting in series one? I assumed it would be about 20 odd.
Just seen this one. Another quality ep. Much better than the last two. Seems were heading down the prophecy route, which opens up all sorts of questions about cylon god. I hope they can handle this stuff as well as B5 did.
The SFX in this series are excellent. I loved the shots of Apollo flying down the tube.
Slightly unrelated, but does anyone else like the bits at the end for R&D tv? These crack me up every week. I particularly liked the "No bones" the other week.

13 episodes for this season, meaning only another 3 :(

I'm kind of enjoying BSG,watched this ep last night. A big improvement on the last couple
2 things that bug, Number 6, sooooooooooo bored now of the whole character, I hate the way she drapes over everything and her voice is driving me to throw something at the TV.
The whole Caprica storyline, it's soooooooooooo drawn out. Get to the point already. Sorry I'd hoped it would go at a slightly faster pace
jamiearmour - January 9, 2005 08:29 PM (GMT)
I think the Caprica storyline may be bearing fruit (literally) did anyone else notice cylon/boomer throwing up? Can everyone say "Morning Sickness"?

Yes, it looks that way.
Great episode last week, even if Apollo's attack through the tunnel etc reminded me a little too much of a certain young pilot and the Death Star trench
Also, not sure about the Celtic victory music

That's exactly what I said :o
yeah I got the whole pregnancy thing, cos of course ALL women suffer from severe morning sickness
I suppose there really aren't any other ways of making you guess that someone's expecting, without showing hurling.
 ;)

That's exactly what Vic said at the time;
"What does he think he's doing, attacking the Death Star !!"

Sorry about that :tear:
Actually, apart from the obvious attributes (I'm not that old that I've given up noticing such things :whistling: ) I'm beginning to find her a little annoying.
I'm also wondering why no one seems to notice that Balthar starts having sex with himself all the time :ermm:

I can't even eat onions anymore, well late at night anyway, or it makes me sick :tear:

Gloria (my sis in law) could go through an entire jar of the things in under 24 hours  :fear:
At least she got plenty of vitamins :lmao:

I take it back. :o
The whole Caprica story was worth the wait, for the last few minutes alone. Excellent stuff
willowroolz - January 10, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
Mmmm, interesting episode. Baltar was great as usual, but I agree with Tony on this one - Number Six is getting a bit tedious. The ending was good, though.

Crichton Kicks - January 13, 2005 12:17 AM (GMT)
Another fascinating episode.
I think at some level most of us would probably have seen that particular aspect of the Caprica story playing out. I kind of figured it would be the end of the season though, it'll be interesting to see where they take that story from here.
The main thread in the episode itself was just as intruiging IMO. You get the impression again that the Cylons orchestrated the 'assassination' attempt to elevate Gaius to a lofty level. Any bets on Boomer 'offing' the would-be assassin ??
Nice to see Richard Hatch back again, and the way the episode ends, you get the impression he'll be back during the second season
So, 11 episodes down, just a two part finale to go now :)
Hovis - January 13, 2005 11:20 AM (GMT)
Another terrific episode.
Loved the Balthar as vice president thing! So, if Laura (if Gaius is on first name terms with the pres, I don't see why I can't be too) succumbs to her cancer, then Balthar will be president. The Cylons having one of the two leading positions under their thumb... how cool is that!
I was kind of hoping that it would turn out the assasin would have been after the Richard Hatch character (damn this sieve like brain... character name forgotten!) as that would have made a nice twist. But I guess we can assume that he was after the pres. Interesting how Richard Hatch interacted with Tigh's wife too!
The Caprica thing is playing out well. Like Angel, I assumed we'd get the conclusion closer to the season finale, but we are only 2 episodes to go so I guess we are almost there anyway! It was obvious he was going to w**k out Boomer was a Cylon and seeing a copy was the simplest way of doing it. I did have the impression that he was w**king toward that conclusion by himself anyway!
I have to agree about Number 6 too. I wouldn't have used the word 'skanky', but she's not my type. But boy, doesn't Starbuck scrub up well! Just for a split second as Appollo was approaching her at the bar, obviously not recognising her, I didn't either, and seeing her dressed that way was a real eye opener!
Take care,
Andrew :upside:
