star_fury - December 28, 2004 05:19 PM (GMT)
information on the region 1 special edition from DVDAnswers.com being released on 15th March 2005...

"Paramount has announced the collector's edition of Star Trek: First Contact which stars Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner and LeVar Burton. This new two-disc special edition will be available to own from the 15th March next year, and should set you back around $19.99 in total. As well as a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the first disc will house an audio commentary with director Jonathan Frakes and screenwriters Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore and a text commentary by Michael and Denise Okuda. The second disc will include a Jerry Goldsmith: A Tribute featurette, a Legacy of Zefram Cochrane featurette, a First Contact: The Possibilities featurette, a Unimatrix One featurette, a featurette on the Borg Queen and a Design Matrix featurette. Also included will be a First Contact Production section that includes featurettes on The Story, The Misile Silo, The Deflector Dish, The Art of First Contact, another feature on the designs of the Enterprise as well as a making of documentary. Completing the package will be a Scene Deconstruction which features the Borg Queen Assembly, the Escape Pod launch and the Borg Queen's demise, storyboards, a production gallery and both the theatrical trailer and teaser trailer. The only notable exception is deleted scenes. Our thanks to Gustavo from TrekWeb for the heads up. We're also awaiting confirmation on the inclusion of DTS."

Paramount has confirmed that Star Trek First Contact collector's edition region 1 will have a DTS soundtrack. That decides it for me, sooner or later I will be upgrading to this version.

Woohoo. the last trek movie worth buying, it sounds pretty good. Shame about the deleted scenes :( But hey Paramount have to hold something back for "The Ulitmate edition" in a couple of years time.

Go on, try and deny it Paramount! You'll try and milk us for every penny/cent we've got.

The case for the prosecution puts forward The Final Frontier, Insurrection and Nemesis to support it's claim :p

Sadly, the Doc agrees with Ken :(

He already owns the original edition of Nemesis  But is actually looking forward to the special edition. More plodding deleted scenes and more Wesley Crusher, that's just what our dvd collection needs :tear:

Perhaps so. It would seem that Paramount aren't content with the home entertainment market, now they're branching out into pharmaceuticals as well

There's nothing like a dose of self-delusion Ken

I'm sure you'll find that most of the cut material from Nemesis will make it's way back onto the SE DVD. Otherwise what's the point in anyone getting it ?? They had some of the deleted scenes on the bog-standard release.
