A 100-year-old space exploration ship appears near Babylon 5 with two passengers - a woman in cryogenic sleep, the corpse of her husband... and something sinister that has unfinished business with a half mad lurker.

Good episode this, I thought. Slightly different take on the Shadows.

Always a pleasure to see Dwight Schultz. No one does unbalanced quite like Dwight. And was that a little dig about ships with early technology had the letters USS in front of them?

Also liked G'Kar's line "The future isn't what it be used to be"

This episode is fantastic if only for the 'typical' performance from Dwight Schultz. As Tony mentioned, no one quite does deranged like Dwight. As guest appearances go up until this point, this is probably one of the best.

The episode itself, is important, in parts, and provides a decent plot within itself.

More when I've rewatched ;)

Good episode - imaginitive plot I thought and that was before the reference to the creature being a dark servant of you know who.

Yes Dwight Schultz is good at being a loony but I rewatched the TV of The Stand a few weeks ago and thought Matt Frewer's Trashcan Man was the Bees Nees in insanity.

Matt Frewer certainly does go Looney Tunes in The Stand. I preferred DS myself, but they're both great at playing whackos that's for sure

Reasonable episode, but nothing outstanding I thought. Maybe I've seen too many similar storylines in the past, or maybe I'm too tired to appreciate it fully. Who knows?.

The mad bloke was good at erm..being mad though. :) When he said "get out of my head" at the start of the ep, he put me in mind of Andrew in the Storyteller episode.

Great episode with yet more build up to the fact that there's "something going on out there". Dwight Shultz was brilliant.

Dwight Schultz the highlight of the story - he really is excellent.

Hmmm, I'm not sure whether I like this one or not. On the one hand, I like the way Amis is dealt with. Because it's Dwight Schultz you jump to the immediate conclusion that he's a loon and that's all there is to it, but I like the way Garibaldi's familiarity with what happened to him leads to a much more rounded character.

On the other hand I find Franklin's relationship with Mariah is incredibly contrived and unnecessary. One minute she's bawling her eyes out about her husband's death (or at least trying to, nice touch that) the next she's trying to snog Franklin  It's almost like our Stephen caught CKS (Captain Kirk Syndrome) for a minute

The creature screams of Forbidden Planet (not the first time that film has been cited as an influence), and is quite effective, but I do feel there was an opportunity to have done more with it. The episode goes along very nicely until the final third but then seems to become quite disjointed (especially the bit where Garibaldi hears Amis's screams, heads off to look for him, cue fade to black, next scene Garibaldi's sitting talking to Sheridan. It's a bit jarring).

I do like the fact that this creature was being called to Z'ha'dum, though. Very ominous :fear:
