The X-Files creator Chris Carter told SFX magazine that he's still trying to get a second movie based on his classic TV series off the ground. "We are in negotiations right now," Carter told the magazine. "And because it's a sequel, there are peculiar and specific kinds of negotiations that are holding us up. I think that there's an appetite for it, but I think that it's got to be good. People won't just go and see anything. Whatever happens, I'm going to do something good that people will want to go and see regardless."

As for the sequel film's storyline, Carter said, "Not a mythology one, for sure!" :(

I'm quite relieved to hear that it'll not be mythology-based. I'd love to see some classic XF along the lines of the great standalones like Squeeze or The Host.

Yeah, I'm glad too. I don't think they had a clue what they were doing with the mythology in the end. :rolleyes:

The mythology just kind of collapsed under it's own weight in the end.

It seemed to me that they had all these good ideas but they never really planned how they all fitted together, and by the end they were so desperately trying to have it all make some kind of sense that they just confused themselves and gave up. :lol:

The kind of expectation that those nine years generated, The Truth could do nothing but flatter to deceive.

As an episode, not bad, but as a finale it was lacking somewhat.

They mythology did get out of hand towards the end, but after being so good for so long I was half expecting it :unsure: It would be great to have a mythology film on the invasion or the prevention of it, but just wouldn't be the same without CSM or Krycek :(

I hope they just have the movie set during Season 7, and have it be like the best fucking standalone ep ever. Something like a big budget version of Triangle, Jose Chungs, or Bad Blood, would be nice.

If only they could get Darin Morgan to write the script.

Perhaps after a few years' break since season nine was completed Chris Carter might have some new interesting ideas to keep the mythology storyline going?

I hope you're right and CC has come up with some good ideas!:) As for 2012, I was pretty sure that'd be the theme of the omvie as they're hardly gonna save the idea up for 7 years! It'd make a really great film too, FTF-style and bigger! Would love to see a standalone based movie though as that has the real flavour of M&S in it (and i am hpoing those will be the main characters!:)). Heard lots of rumours about ghosts etc... hmm!

I know it's only been about a week but I miss the Beeb board SO much!! There was just something about it, nice and clean, easy to navigate, etc. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get used to this place.

The thing with the Beeb boards was the convenience. They were just there, and there was always a steady flow of traffic.

Had they closed last year I'd have been devastated. Now that we've had this place for nearly 12 months, I'd managed to wean myself off the Beeb boards anyway.

This place was set up before the beeb even hinted at closing, it was meant to be used as an alternative with more freedom to post URL's, pictures, general chat and so on ;)

I still keep wanting to call Rich Agent 1013, even when I see him in person LOL!, I think these boards are fab and I promise to finally come and visit more frequently!! :blush: :D I miss the beeb too - I always found it so easy to pop by for about 5 minutes and leave about 10 messages before doing something else LOL! This place is great too tho - my favourite alternative since I left the beeb!!!:D:D:D I love the fact it caters for so many shows (quite similar!:D) and the smilies are by far the best LOL!!!! :blush: :lol: :D :D :thumbsup: Not to mentoin the header bar - I get excited every time it turns out to be an xfiles one LOL! :blush: :D
