| When Kara goes missing under enemy fire, Lee and his father stir up resentment by using too many of the Galactica's scanty resources in their attempts to find her. |
So, what would you pack to take on a training mission ?
Parachute ?
Radio ?
Med Kit ?
Oxygen detector thingy ?
Hand Gun ?
Extra super economy sized roll of masking tape to write “Star Buck” on the bottom of passing Cylon Raiders
Now there's someone that thinks ahead

Was it tape, or was it scraped on with some of the surface rock? It looked the same colour to me.

watched this ep last night
I actually thought it was painted on but it's just occurred to me that either way, any marking would have been burnt off when leaving the moon's atmosphere.
Loved the scene where Adama gave Starbuck his last cigar, so emotional that the onions in my takeaway curry really got to me ;)

I must admit that ending disappointed me a bit because it was horribly predictable. I was hoping they'd keep the tensions between them going for a while more at least. :)

tbh I was yearning for a bit of predictability with the way that the series has gone. If you really want unpredictability what the f*ck is going on with Caprica as I can't predict any resolution of that storyline

Yeah, it's hard to see where that one's going, cos they ain't going back for him
Maybe he'll become the 13th Cylon model?
Phwoar to Boomer in the hammock, though :innocent: :whistling:

They seem to be toying with him, it’s the only way to explain why they didn’t finish him after shooting up the restaurant – I think he's the star of a Cylon Reality TV show titled “I’m a human being, get me out of here” <_<

Good point :)
forgot to mention how devastating the Cylon fire power is :fear: , although perversely it reminds me of an Ed 202  <_<

Regarding Helo back on Caprica, the Cylons could be using him to lead them to any underground military movement that's survived.

I thought this was a great ep. Loved the interior of the Cylon fighter. Thought the writing on the hull of the Cylon fighter was a great idea.
The Cylon-Occupied Caprica storyline is quite confusing. Was the scene in the diner an homage to Pulp Fiction (with the toaster)? Maybe Angel is right about there being an underground resistance. It would make sense that there are other survivors. Otherwise, why would the cylons be on Caprica at all? How come all the cities seem to be untouched by nukes though? You would expect a lot more devastation.
I wondered at one point whether Number six wasn't the only one who wanted a baby. Maybe they sent a Boomerbot to rescue Helo, so he'd fall in love with her. Mind you, it was Boomer in the hammock that made me think that, so maybe I'm projecting.
So far, I reckon this series has been pretty hard to fault.

Yes, it's been very good so far.
jamiearmour - November 23, 2004 10:09 AM (GMT)
The whole impetus (IMO) behind the Cylon attacks was, if what No 6 said is to believed, that the Cylons were coming home.
That could at least partly explain their remaining on Caprica. As for the Helos storyline in general, I think he may just be a test subject. Seeing how far a human is willing to go to survive and when/if he would ever give in and just let the Cylons kill him just to get it over with.
They seem to be interested in the psychological effects as well as the physical effects that their attack has had on their "parents".

Nice one with the Pulp Fiction comparison
Assuming that the bombs are relatively dirty, the radiation would have been the primary killer of the colonists as opposed to the blasts themselves. This is consistent from the mini-series where the detonations appeared to occur above ground level :)

As far as I've seen it's been pretty faultless. Who'd have thought it when we were hearing the scare stories and seeing some of the pictures coming out of the production this time last year ??
I'm left only to draw one conclusion, trust Ron Moore, the guy obviously knows something about how to make sci-fi and/or fantasy w**k on television. DS9, Roswell, Carnivale, BSG.
If Star Trek still had him involved in anykind of active capacity it wouldn't be in half the trouble it's currently in :(

Oh yes
Eps 4 and 5 are the best yet imo, maybe a little predictable towards the end, but I don't think it would have fitted in with Commander Adama's character if he had stayed mad, we saw how far he was willing to go with the search, so things tied up nicely in the end :) Also, I'm looking forward to seeing what they learn from the Cylon ship, should be very interesting, just like when Star Buck opened it up, wasn't expecting that at all :)
The whole Caprica thing has gotten even more intriguing, I'm still sticking with the rooting out resistance story, but then Boomers disappearance leans more towards the side of pushing him, to see how far a human will go. But surely they would have conducted this sort of test long ago?
Hmmm

I'm going to take back what I said after rewatching it. Absolutely loved that ending this time around
I might as well take back anything negative I said about the series, actually

Jeez, how much more wrong could I be? Okay, so Starbuck didn't go back for him, per se, but even so...

^^ Must admit.....I thought that particular storyline would have had some form of closure at the end of the first season with Helo likely rejoining the Galactica somehow. Instead they go and strand Starbusk WITH HIM !!
Love the unpredictability of this series

In the audio commentary to this episode, Eick and Moore called this one of their favorites (or was it their favorite?) and one of the fan favorites. It wasn't mine. This was a very familiar story -- way too predictable.
The commentary admitted that the Commander was wrong to risk the fleet by staying to find one person and they seemed to think that message was loud and clear. But when the episode ends with the lost comrade recovered and after the Commander tells his son the fllet would never leave if he was the missing pilot -- I say the message was skewed the other way.
It remained watchable thanks in part to the professionalism of the writers and production team and actors. But the bulk of the credit goes to two people:
Katee Sackoff. I'm so drawn "into the moment" when she's around that I forget she's acting. She's one of the few actors that does that to me. Hell... I nearly broke down when she did when the Commander welcomed her back with a kiss to the forehead.
Sergio Mimica-Gezzan. The episode's director. A Spielberg protege, he brings the environment into the drama in a perceptive way. The commentary often pointed out the things he did especially well (and one thing he didn't do so well which they corrected).
The living Cylon fighter was a good idea but Starbuck managed to figure things out pretty quickly.
Did anyone else think of ALIEN when seeing the forward-curving fighter thru a dust storm?

:D The commentators admit they didn't know where that storyline was going either until they reached this episode or the next. IIRC, they brought Helos back only becuz of the audience reaction to that character.

Sexier than Number 6 even tho she had very little skin showing.
