Some quick 20th Century Fox news for you today. The studio has tentatively set Chris Carter's The Lone Gunmen: The Complete Series for release early in 2005. Also on the way for 2005 is Space Above and Beyond: The Complete Series (although the specific release timeframe has yet to be decided). Unfortunately, the Adam West camp classic Batman: The Complete Series is still up in the air for a variety of reasons (we suspect having to do with the fact that the rest of the Batman franchise rights are at Warner at the moment), but there's hope that it will be released eventually. And on the catalog film front, you'll be happy to learn that the long awaited Office Space: Special Edition is shaping up nicely and will include some very cool bonus material. Expect that in 2005 as well.

About fekkin' time !!

Let's hope space above and beyond is released with a 5.1 soundtrack! I don't know about buying the lone gunman DVDs but I would love to see the very first episode as it wasn't shown after 9/11 :(

Just a few days ago, on Thanksgiving Day in fact, we revealed that The Lone Gunmen - The Complete Series would arrive in March 2005. Now Fox Home Entertainment has made their official announcement about this release, confirming a street date of March 29th.

This is a 3-DVD release, using double-sided discs. Even though Fox's announcement mysteriously cuts off the episode list at the 9th installment, on the flip side of the second disc, we've got confirmation from the studio that all 13 episodes of the regular series will be included on this set, including the pilot episode. That pilot's inclusion has worried fans, as it has been hard to find on-air in the wake of the tragedy of 9/11, seeing as how one element of the pilot's story included an airplane-based threat to the World Trade Center. We would warn anyone who might find this upsetting, that perhaps the pilot episode is best left unwatched, if sensitivity to those events is an issue. However, we highly applaud Fox for including this story in the DVD set, and indeed making it the "complete" series.

To REALLY make it complete, Fox is going out of their way to include a 14th episode on this compilation. As we reported in our last story, the X-Files episode "Jump The Shark" - from the final season of the series that spun off The Lone Gunmen, and airing just a few weeks ahead of the close of the X-Files itself - is going to be included as a bonus on The Lone Gunmen - The Complete Series. This episode brings the hanging plotlines from the spin-off to a conclusive end, and very effectively wraps things up for Byers, Langly, and Frohike.

There will also be Commentary Tracks on this release, but the specific episode(s) and participant(s) have yet to be named. Video is in the original 1.78:1 widescreen, and it looks like this will be anamorphically enhanced. Language support is in English and Spanish, both with Dolby Surround soundtracks and with subtitles. Running time is shown at 559 minutes. SRP is $39.98 USA, and CAN $54.98 in Canada. Stay tuned for cover art!

I'll buy it :D Sounds like a good thing to have :)

Nice to see that they included Jump The Shark a well, just as the Millennium Season 3 set included The XF episode Millennium

Not about the above but does anyone know if Earth 2 will ever be released on DVD?

I really liked this show, it had a lot of promise and would love to see it again.

I'd love to see it released. It was one of my favourite shows when it was on Sky One.

With the rate at which older shows are being out onto DVD it's probably a matter of time, but given the success (or lack thereof) of the show I'd imagine it'll be later rather than sooner :(

I've got high quality copies of the entire season downloaded, back from when Suprnova carried it about six months ago. If you're impatient for a DVD release, I'm sure I could sort you out with some copies if necessary :)

:) Thank you, you are all so nice on here.

Its a bit weird really that there is so little ever mentioned about the show. Another one cancelled before it should have been.

I hope it does make it to DVD, I remember when I used to watch it quite a few of my friends did so I am sure people would buy it.

Overall it was a good show but there were several episodes that were excellent.

The Heller arc was a particular highlight I thought. The Enemy Within and Redemption were fantastic episodes.

One of the more frustrating points to Earth2's cancellation was the fact that it was originally renewed, only to be later cancelled during the summer hiatus, much like Tru Calling's recent demise

Sorry for digging up the old thread but has anyone heard anything about Space Above & Beyond?

Latest news I saw from a few days ago;

You've heard the rumors that Space: Above and Beyond will be coming to DVD, and... well... it's not here. Good news though; it is coming, and it's coming very soon - this summer.

Space: Above and Beyond is a title that Best Buy will have an exclusive on for a period of time, much like Tru Calling: Season 2 (which has vanished from the BB website for an unknown reason), and some titles from other studios. After this exclusive period ends we'll see it at for sale at other retailers, so if you don't have a Best Buy in your area then don't panic, you'll get the set. Since this title is an exclusive, information may be difficult to obtain until it's announced for sale elsewhere, but we'll do some digging and report whatever we find.

We've been teased by rumors for years, but this is finally happening!

It would appear that a R1 release is imminent. No news of a R2 release though.

Thanks. Its a shame its going to be so long. I've been waiting for years to get that series. I loved it when it was on. Guess I'll have to stick with the odd few taped episodes I have.

SAAB's release date has apparently been bought forward from October to September 6th for a Region 1 release.

Region 1 - November 8th (general release), although you may find copies knocking around on eBay September 6th onwards, Best Buy have it as an exclusive release until November.

Region 2 - Fox UK have confirmed that there are no plans at the moment to release the show onto R2 :(

You may have noticed a box set of "Space Above and Beyond" for sale on Amazon.com. It looks like this is some sort of "Best Buys" exclusive for now in th states with a full release later. I've checked with the PR people here in the U.K and they tell me there is no news of a release over here just yet.

Taken from The Region 2 Project.

that's a shame. I imagine it will come to the UK at some point but I think I'll go with the region 1 some time before Christmas.

I think I was reading on Digital bits that there were problems with some of the Best Buy versions of Space Above and Beyond , have you heard anything about this ?

Crichton Kicks - September 21, 2005 04:19 PM (GMT)
Can't say as I have. The usual Best-buy thing is to forget to include any additional extras discs though.
