Synopsis

Following a vague tip from Deep Throat, Mulder uncovers secret testing of alien DNA on humans by the government but is captured and infected with an alien retrovirus. Against his own concerns, Deep Throat tries to do too much for the agents and is discovered as Mulder's source and is executed.
At the very end, Mulder informs Scully that word has come from the top of the executive branch to close The X-Files.

A great season finale, in fact, one of the series' best IMO.

From the very beginning this one rarely lets up at all. Mulder frustrated at his lack of progress only to be spurred on by Deep Throat. Scully, finally finding hard evidence and beginning to buy into what's going on. Well just a little. As Deep Throat tells Mulder, he's never been closer, but the stakes are raised consequently, with people 'offed' at every turn.

A shocking conclusion to this one. A conclusion that still baffles me in many ways. Why kill the character and then for all intents and purposes, bring in someone else to fulfill the same role ??

So, the green-blood/clone/alien hybrid story's underway :thumbsup:
