Fire

Synopsis

An old Oxford girlfriend of Mulder's asks for his help in an international case concerning the unexplainable execution of several British dignitaries and they encounter an assassin who can produce fire from his bare hands.

Mixed feelings on this one again. Firstly, nice to have somekind of British connection. Boo hiss for the stereotyping though. First there was the dignitary and his family itself, and then there was Phoebe, please don't ever bring her back !!

As for the villain of the piece, Cecil B. Lively, along with Tooms, he's one of the characters I'd love to see again.

The pyrotechnics for the episode were impressive, particularly the 'clicking of the fingers' scene.

I seemed to recall this one not being shown as part of the original BBC run, but a quick look at the airdate in the DVD set's booklet would suggest otherwise.

I remember seeing this one during the original run on BBC2, James ;)

Guess I need to get back to this rewatch :lol:

It doesn't surprise me that I was wrong Steve, although I'm sure they included as one of the episodes in one of the XF theme nights on the Beeb at some point.

:lol: Hi all about!:o) Am new to these boards although some of you may remember me from the "X"(gee there is a good side to the closure!)-BBC forums!!:):D Fire is one of my faaavourtie episodes of all time - as said I think Cecil L'ively is a fab bad-guy and I used to have a poster of him right by my bed from the last official yearbook where he looked scarily like Robbie Williams! :fear: ;) have been meaning to do a rewatch after I nabbed all the seasons for a tenner in the works before X-mas!:-D Glad that Fire will be one of the first!:-D if anyone here didn't get their hands on the offer the remaining box sets have gone down to a fiver now so make sure you do!:):):)

Music Zone were carrying the VHS box sets for a fiver recently as well.

I picked most of them up (all 'cept the last one :rolleyes:) last year, but seeing as they've now been good enough to re-release the DVDs at a tidy price I've started upgrading :thumbsup:

Re Fire - Yeah, a cracker, and one of season one's best standalones.

Hi Jenny, I got S5,6,7 and 9 for a tenner a piece :thumbsup: If anyone’s looking to start up the rewatch again then by all means lets do it :)

I'll probably kick in again with the rest of season 2 once the Farscape rewatch is out of the way.

Might try to squeeze a The Shield one in as well to kick off season 4 with :thumbsup:

Is that an S4 ep by ep thing or a complete S1 to current? Either way, Count me in :D

Well done with the boxsets - yeah are The Works and music zone one and the same in some way? I was surprised to hear the banana bookshop in Covent Garden is a branch of The Works!:o) Couldn't believe it when I saw the dvd sets for about £27 in HMV! (around that amount I think!) Best do my vid sets the honor of watching them atleast once though!;-D

I'm currently watching season 3, maybe you lot will catch up with me on your rewatch? :unsure:

I'm going to try and get through seasons 1-3 in time to coincide with Season 4 starting :thumbsup:

You know, since I bought the VHS sets last year, I've only watched a couple of them :rolleyes: They're obscolete without ever being watched :( :lol:

Re the Farscape rewatch, I'm in season 4 now, so as soon as I get back into it seriously, I should be able to polish it off in a week or so. So, you might have to get your skates on with season 1 Jen ;)

Managed to upgrade the whole nine seasons on DVD at Xmas, so I keep looking at them thinking I really must get round to watching them.

I have all of season 2 sitting unopened on my shelf...ill be up for watching it at the same time as you guys..
