Title: Season 8 Finale
Description: Spoilers
Crichton Kicks - October 14, 2004 09:08 PM (GMT)
Three things constantly rumoured to feature at the moment in the SG1 Season 8 finale Mobius;
* Time Travel
* Kawalski
* Apophis
Interesting. Let's see how many are true :lol:
Phillip Culley - October 14, 2004 09:32 PM (GMT)
I was fairly certain on the Kawalsky thing - I know the Jay (forget his surname - guy who plays him) had said he was going to be on it, and as a result he was likely to be playing Kawalsky.
Which leads in to the possibility of time travel bringing him here, but personally I'd like to avoid it, as it seems to be a cliche SG-1 has on the most part avoided.
But, please no more Apophis! He's died and come back enough times already...
OF course, if these rumours are true, I can forsee a bug story bringing everything together to end the series, which seems all the more likely now with Amanda Tapping's recent pregnancy announcement...
Crichton Kicks - October 15, 2004 06:46 PM (GMT)
The Apophis rumour seems to be the one that's gaining momentum. I've always thought he was the best System Lord that SG1's had. Anubis aside, the rest are all pretty much the same. Quite agree though, it would be stretching credibility once again :rolleyes:
jamiearmour - October 23, 2004 10:12 PM (GMT)
They don't need to use time travel at all.....
They could come from the (I am almost ashamed to use this term) Mirror Universe, that Daniel first visited in Season 1. We have already seen that universes Carter and Kowalski, appear in the true SG1 reallity so it's not that great a stretch to imagine him reappearing??? Is it????
Crichton Kicks - October 23, 2004 10:49 PM (GMT)
There's two ways in which Kawalsky can reappear; time travel or mirror universe. The Producers have thusfar ruled out neither method, thus sparking conjecture as to a time travel element to the show. Time travel would also be a likely means of featuring Apophis once again. But then, so would the mirror universe ;)

An update;

| SG-1 travels back in time in a daring plan to steal a piece of Ancient technology from Ra, the powerful Goa'uld who ruled in ancient Egypt. |
According to Peter Williams (Apophis), he'll also be re-appearing.

please no not Anubis again :rolleyes:

Well if we get Anubis then we've got the complete set of Goa'uld Big Bads !! :lol:

So, what did you think then? I was a little disappointed, especially as I can't see how they appeared back but acquired all the knowledge of the eight years their alternates had spent acquiring? Unless I missed the point :(
PMSL when Sam said she fancied Daniel though!

I loved Apophis's goatee. A nice little reference to "Mirror Mirror" there. Oh how I sniggered.
I loved the episode overall, and I can't wait to see what they pull out for season 9. It was really nice to see Jack and Sam finally get it together :thumbsup: (I know, I'm a soppy queen, but it's allowed in this case :whistling: ;) )

I know what you mean about Sam and Jack, I thought it was going to happen in "Threads" and then it didn't. I was very soppy at that moment too!

I didn't quite get it either, but I just blamed it all on crazy time travel stuff.

LOL! Glad I'm not the only one who was a little confused by the ending. But yey!! Jack and Sam. Finally :thumbsup:
Crichton Kicks - February 26, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
I found this one a little underwhelming.
It had been promoted on the basis of featuring the return of Ra, Apophis and Kawalski, yet Ra was in one scene with his mask on, Apophis was only in one scene, and Kawalski didn't turn up until the second episode.
That being said, the episode started well, but bogus ending, it was wrapped up way too quickly. It was like they suddenly realised that, sh*t people there's only a minute to go before the credits !! Quick wrap it all up !!
Certainly nowhere near as good as Season 7's The Lost City IMO.

I'm with you on that Angel. The ending was very rushed. I also though the premise for going in the first place was too weak. There was no way that carter would have allowed them to use the time machine. As soon as she got there, she seemed to remember what a bad idea time travel is. I though the idea was good though. I liked how they never had to go in the first place. I also wandered if they would show where they got the ZPM that they mention in the Atlantis season finale.
Overall, I'm not that disappointed though. Although 'Moebius' wasn't as good as 'the lost city' (hey, what is) I thought the replicator double ep was close. That was followed by another great double ep in threads. The half of season 8 has been as good as SG1 has ever been IMHO. Roll on Season 9.

I agree with most of the comments here. I did feel it was a little rushed towards the end, i think they spent too much time in Chulac (not sure of spelling). I would have liked to see the rebellion, but being a shipper Sam and Jack finally getting together even the alternate reality Sam and Jack made up for it. I thought it would happen in Threads, but this was brilliant.
The whole scene with them in the jumper, Jack thinking Sam was "hot"; Sam saying she liked Daniel; Jack implying he thought Daniel was gay; then the kiss "I thought you liked Daniel", "I Lied" and then kissing again; then "give us a minute", the look on Daniels face, then sparks flying and "I can fix it". As you can guess i loved that scene and i hope we find out what happens between them in S9, even if RDA isn't in it that much.
Sorry if i've gone on too long about the whole J/S thing, i just never thought it would happen and now i'm all hyper. It's probably best if i stop typing now.
Ems :thumbsup:

Reckoning was better than the season finale, they should have switched them :lol:

If they switched the 2 around then where would Threads go, because events that occured in Reckoning were relevent to Threads if Reckoning was the finale, it wouldn't have worked as well imo.
I do agree Moebius wasn't as good as Reckoning, but i don't think swapping the position would make any difference to the series.

Fairly straight forward, you just shift Threads to act as the season 9 opener. The end of Reckoning would be quite sufficient at w**king as a seasonal cliffhanger.
Moebius was probably the worst finale for a good few seasons. :(
TV Crazy - March 8, 2005 07:51 PM (GMT)
That sounds like a good idea, although the scene by Jack's pond would probably have to be cut from Moebius, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense. It could w**k, i guess. I kinda like it the way it is.

Well, I finally saw this, and found that while the first half of Part 1 was awful fun with SG-1 travelling back in time (and with an immediate resolution I wasn't expecting), it all got a bit silly with the alternate universe gubbins.
Yes, it was nice to see all the special guest stars appearing, and the initial concept of the alternate universe was intriguing (although they all forgot the Grandfather paradox - if they find the ZPM 2 weeks before they go back then they'll have no reason to go back in time in the first place. As a result, if they don't need to go back, they won't go back, and so won't be there to plant the ZPM, and so they'll need to go back in time to hide the ZPM... I hate this paradox mallarkey :)
However, the end was awfully rushed, and on the whole I think I'd have preferred they had this story as a mid-season thing, and ended with Threads as am extended length finale.
