Title: Battlestar Galactica
Description: Am I the only one who's excited?
jamiearmour - October 11, 2004 07:22 AM (GMT)
I can't wait for the new series. (The fact that the Yanks don't get to see it till January in no way makes me gloat :lmao: :lmao: )
The mini series was great and hopefully they will be able to maintain the standard (no Galactica 05 please God)
Nick - October 11, 2004 09:01 AM (GMT)
I've not seen any of the new stuff incl. the film that was on Sky Movies early this year. Looking forward to it though, this Thursday int'it? :)
willowroolz - October 11, 2004 09:28 AM (GMT)
I'm really looking forward to it. The mini-series was pretty good. :)
Crichton Kicks - October 11, 2004 10:54 AM (GMT)
Is it this Thursday ?? I thought it was Monday, but woohoo if it is Thursday
With Ron Moore at the helm, I've got high hopes for this one. And hat off to Sky, finally beginning to put their money where their mouths are. Let's just hope that we'll get to see The 4400 season 2 rapido as well, if they stump up cash for that on as well
Nick - October 11, 2004 11:08 AM (GMT)
SG1 Monday
Atlantis Tuesday
BG Thursday
if this is correct, then it's shaping up nicely :D
Crichton Kicks - October 11, 2004 11:14 AM (GMT)
A trip down to Mother's come Thursday night then
Number Six - October 11, 2004 11:52 AM (GMT)
I think it's the two-parter repeated on Thursday and Friday with the series proper staring next week. I think.
Crichton Kicks - October 11, 2004 11:57 AM (GMT)
That would make a semblence of sense I guess. How unlike Sky
I'll have a looksie at some point. I've got the mini on DVD already.

that rings a bell, sure I recall something about ''another chance to see...''
Nice one No.6
Number Six - October 11, 2004 06:05 PM (GMT)
Just checked (so I don't have to engage "me and my big gob" mode later
Thursday and Friday 9 - 11. That's a mighty pilot. :toomuchtv:
Question is, is it any good. The article I read says that Ronald D Moore is the brains so cautious optimism. ;)
OK. I'll buy it. What the hell is "wox"
Crichton Kicks - October 11, 2004 06:19 PM (GMT)
The pilot's very good Tony. Everything I saw about the pilot before I actually went ahead and watched it had me believing it would be awful. Instead it turned out to be captivating. Great FX, a decent retelling of the Galactica pilot and some intruiging story arcs started. I can't wait for the series proper. This is just what we need, as Star Trek's slide continues.
Wox ?? Other than the poster here named Wox ??

I must admit I went in blind with the pilot. I saw the dvd for £4 in a second hand shop and thought "hmmm Ronald Moore? Could be interesting" And I was blown away. The FX were amazing. The acting (no offence to Lorne Greene and co) was outstanding. Even the revisions to the "Starbuck" character (no spoilers here) worked better than I would have expected.
I really can't wait to see the full series.
and the yanks won't till next year hee hee hee (sorry, not gloating honest) :innocent:
Can't wait for the 4400 either, that starts next month if I'm not mistaken (please tell me I'm not)
Nick - October 11, 2004 07:39 PM (GMT)
That's twice now Jamie, seems like gloating to me

It's not gloating, just a mere statement of fact ;)
We'll probably end up getting the SG1 and Atlantis finales this year first as well
Not sure when The 4400 turns up on Sky, but if you liked JMS' Rising Stars you'll probably like this as well ;)
jamiearmour - October 11, 2004 09:37 PM (GMT)
From what I've heard about the 4400, the similarities between it and Rising Stars are inevitable.
But hey, that may not be a bad thing. I loved Rising Stars.
Crichton Kicks - October 11, 2004 10:53 PM (GMT)
It's a similar kind of thing with The 4400 as it was with BSG; instead of seeing Ron Moore's name attached and knowing I was going to like it, it had Rene Echevarria and Ira Behr attached to it.
I found it to be very strong. It also drew huge numbers for the USA network. A few wranglings aside, Season 2 should be fairly inevitable.

Cheers for that, James. I was unsure what with the 'revisions' to Starbuck and fond remembrances of Lorne Greene, Dirk Benedict and Patrick Macnee but with Moore at the helm I felt more optimistic.
There's a new smilie called wox. I'm just trying to keep up with modern technology

willowroolz - October 17, 2004 09:42 AM (GMT)
Hopefully this now means that Monday is a good tv night, what with this followed by The Dead Zone
Number Six - October 17, 2004 10:00 AM (GMT)
Just in case anyone isn't aware BG starts tomorrow (Mon) at 8.00. The old Enterprise slot.
Sorry but when you get older you become proficient in telling people what they already know <_<

I deserve that - just settling down to pt 2 of the mini-series. Pt 1 brill
Crichton Kicks - October 17, 2004 08:41 PM (GMT)
I loved the mini. If the series lives up to the potential generated through the pilot then we're in for a treat. With Ron Moore producing I see no reason to assume we won't get it
ken1701e - October 18, 2004 08:54 PM (GMT)
Bought the mini series on dvd - still not got around to watching it!!!
Crichton Kicks - October 18, 2004 09:16 PM (GMT)
I haven't seen tonight's episode yet either. Bought The Day After Tomorrow this afternoon, so watched that instead.
I may have a BSG marathon tomorrow night; The mini followed by 1x01
willowroolz - October 18, 2004 09:19 PM (GMT)
I enjoyed 33. It was a good follow up to the mini, quite tense with the clock ticking all the time. They've carried the visual style on, which I really like. The whole Baltar thing worked well, too. Very promising.

Did anyone else notice how fast Commander Adama's 3-day beard grew back after he shaved ?
Or could that have been a continuity thing ?

Good point . . .
Number Six - October 19, 2004 07:59 AM (GMT)
Haven't not yet seeing the pilot I was a tad confused. Normally you have a pilot and then the series starts proper. This seemed to be pilot part three.
So, who was the blonde in the red?

willowroolz - October 19, 2004 08:23 AM (GMT)
Okay, that wasn't very helpful - sorry!
Ironically she's called Number Six
| QUOTE |
| Number Six is a humanoid Cylon, number six of their twelve models of human-appearing robots. Her every move and every gesture is smooth and precise; her eyes are keenly intelligent. Able to be coldly intellectual or coquettishly sexy, Number Six has seduced Gaius Baltar, and over the two years of their affair, she has pretended to be an industrial spy, copying his files for her "company." But in fact she has used Baltar to probe every facet of the humans’ defensive network, the better to destroy their military capability in a single blow. Having implanted her image in Baltar’s brain via a memory chip, the seductive, sardonic, witty and merciless Number Six toys and teases Baltar, even after he escapes with his life to Battlestar Galactica. Amused by the twists and turns of Baltar’s amoral, survival-obsessed mind, she remains visible to him only, a constant reminder of his unwitting treachery. |
