Title: 1.14 Heart Of Gold

Persephone - September 27, 2004 10:05 AM (GMT)
The crew comes to the aid of a bordello when its madam, an old acquaintance of Inara's, asks for help after a gunslinger claims a prostitute's baby is his, and he's taking it, because his wife is barren

I've seen this episode loads of times for some reason. Still like it.

Probably due to the big gunfight at the end. They should have taken the offer to run though :)

I enjoyed the examination of Mals and Inara's feelings towards each other :tear: when Inara cries her heart out :tear:

Jayne funny as ever and  at Kaylee for wanting to get herself a guy, hint Simon hint

Liked the say hello to your daddy - shot - say goodbye to your daddy

Oh and the landspeeder type thing, shame we didn't see any more of these

Outta Sight - February 28, 2005 11:13 AM (GMT)
This is my very favourite episode :D Jayne is hilarious throughout from his initial reluctance to help and subsequent change of heart when he finds out they're prostitutes to his delight on arriving at the bordello and his continuing dalliance with the prostitute right up to the start of the battle!

Inara crying was extremely sad as was the death of Nandi but great bit when the other girl with the baby (I forget her name) steps up as the new leader.

JAYNE
Don't much see the benefit in getting
involved in strangers' troubles
without a upfront price negotiated.

BOOK
These people need assistance. The
benefit wouldn't necessarily be for
you.

JAYNE
S'what I'm sayin'

ZOE
No one's gonna force you to go,
Jayne. As has been stated -- this
job's strictly speculative.

JAYNE
Good. 'cause I don't know these
folks. Don't much care to.

MAL
They're whores.

JAYNE
I'm in.

LMAO :lmao: And you can't beat..........

Jayne: Woop! My John Thomas is about to pop up and fly around the room there’s so much tasty in here.

Wash: Would be you get your most poetical about your pecker.

Perhaps this is the reason why projectile-based weapons are still all the rage? (see the Trash thread) "Check batteries" - I loved that!

This was a really good ep, but I'm not sure how well it would have been received on Fox. Fox is probably the most conservative of the US networks and I doubt an episode which so prominently featured whores (and glorified them, as some religious nut would be bound to argue) would have gone down that well. Still, I guess we'll never know now :(

this episode is brilliant, love the humour from jayne and i really feel sorry for inara, mal sleeping with her friend must of really hurt her, but this episode really annoys me when mal and inara are talking i find myself shouting at the screen 'for godsake tell each other how you feel!!!!'

laughitupfuzzball - May 10, 2005 05:32 PM (GMT)
:o and then she turns round and says she is leaving

It makes for a better story but I am going to be really upset if we don't get anything in the film.

Somehow seeing Inara crying in her little ragdoll way really affects me :tear: love her look to Mal after Nandy dies as if to say get the b*stard now

i agree totally, inara leaving would of made for some great episodes and probably mal confessing his love for her just before she leaves but seen as no more episodes were made i hope the film covers thisa in a small bit of detail.

Another fantastic one  I'll never understand why this was axed

Jayne, again was so funny and poor Inara :tear: I was nearly crying when she realised that Mal had sleeped with Nandi. Feel like shouting at them also

The gun fight was excellent (check batteries :lmao: )

Excellent episode! I really thought Jayne was funny in this one. I really enjoyed the gun fight at the end. The "Check Batteries" was really funny! 9/10

Another great episode!

There is nothing worse than a bad guy who thinks that he is in the right, even worse when he can get the other townsfolk on his side too :fear:

Poor Inara. Her sobs are just heartbreaking

I couldn't believe when she said she was leaving Serenity the first time I saw this episode :o

Best quotes:

Inara: Every well-bred petty crook knows...the small concealable weapons always go to the far left of the place setting.

Kaylee: Everybody's got somebody. Wash, tell me I'm pretty.
Wash: Were I unwed, I would take you in a manly fashion.

Mal: Inara, think you could stoop to being on my arm?
Inara: Will you wash it first?

I really liked this episode too

Ok, I was mad at Mal in "Our Mrs Reynolds" for passing up the opportunity to sort things out with Inara, but now I'm mad at her - the first time they look as though they'll have an open conversation about their feelings and she says she's leaving! I felt so sorry for her though when she cried after seeing Mal leave Nandi's room :tear: . I couldn't believe that Mal and Nandi got it on - I kept thinking "They can't, they won't" and expected him to stop and say "I can't I'm in love with Inara". I'm such a sap!

Some classic Jayne moments - totally in his element surrounded by guns with a hooker on his lap

Was really shocked when the girl (forget her name) killed the bad guy (forget his name too, ).

"hey baby, say hie to your dad ... (bam) ... say good by to your dad"

an ok episode but at least inara finally realised that she has deep feeling for mal (her crying scene was sad) but she couldn't be mad at her friend for sleeping with mal as she never said clearly what was her feeling. Nandi only understood the night after but never got a chance to talk to mal :( ... the big surprise was inara telling mal she finally realised something and she is leaving  :(

jayne: why would we help these strangers?

wash: they are whores

jayne: i am in

love the laser running out of battery ... :lmao: oppsie ... guess the old guns have still a long way to go on that world
