Best drama went to The Sopranos, Best Actor to James Spader for The Practice and Best Actress to Allison Janney for The West Wing. The Sopranos cleared both the Supporting Acting titles (Michael Imperioli and the lovely Drea de Matteo).
Angels in America cleared all the acting titles for a mini-series as well as the Best Mini Series award.
Kelsey Grammer and Sarah Jessica Parker both got the nod for leading actors in a Comedy Series.
Good night for HBO then . . . in total, it took 16 of the 27 primetime awards meaning that it’s total for this year was 32. That’s half of the bloody awards!
I might have been bothered had The Shield not been screwed
I was surprised that CSI was nodded over The Shield this season for Best Drama. Whilst CSI is highly entertaining, it is nowhere near the same league as The Sopranos or West Wing. 24 and JoA were the other two contenders in the category and both were rightly overlooked imo.
The only real gripe I have is with the Best Actor/Actress in a Drama tbh. They should’ve both gone to The Sopranos, giving them a full acting sweep.
The rest I’m happy with . . . :D
The Wire's another one notable by it's absense. Too many crime shows. A shame that it's only the most popular ones in contention, when in truth either of the aforementioned are better IMO.
Oh well, Enterprise picked up two awards, says it all ;)
