watched my first episode of STARGATE SG1 tonight and found CHILDREN OF THE GODS to be very good. Although a little slow in places, generally it is one of the best pilots I remember seeing.

(One question though having not seen the film for such a long time, is Jack O'Neil in it and if so who plays him?)

It is funny in places and in the whole well acted and if I had seen it when it had first been broadcast I think I would have continued to watch the series.

7.5 out of 10 (didnt enjoy it quite as much as the B5 pilot I watched recently but that might just have been because I am more tired tonight!!!)

Yes, Jack O'Neill (there's a running joke about that, which you'll come to in Season 2) is in the series, he was played by Richard Dean Anderson.

And this is excellent news I've always enjoyed COTG with Teal'c's 'Many people have said (they can free his people). But you are the first I believed who could do it' as one of my favourite lines :)

but who plays him in the movie?

Kurt Russell plays him in the movie Ken, and James Spader plays Dr Jackson.

I've always found CotG to be one of the better pilots out there, definitely much better than the original movie imo, which did drag incredibly at times.

They're both quite good in the role, completely different, but both versions good in their own way. The two versions of Jackson are a little more similar.
