Title: Medical Investigation (new Show) & Joey
Description: Reaction to

Christopher Gorham of the failed JAKE 2.0 (a very good actor) get's another karmic opportunity to bring down another show. It's called MEDICAL INVESTIGATION. It's a CSI wannabe with Neal "Boomtown" McDonough as the bullying head of a team that investigates medical emergencies around the country. Gorham plays a rookie on that team.
The first episode followed the team as they investigated an outbreak of "blue skinned" New Yorkers. It was a color-by-numbers (pun not intended) plot and the ending was way too pat. It kept up my interest but it's not a show I admire in the same way that I admire the CSI shows.
McDonough's character is too annoying for my taste. Only a couple of the team members drew my sympathy (not including the news media liaison who had nice legs who wasn't adverse to using them as part of her duties).
I'll tune into the second episode tonite. We'll see...

BTW: JOEY? The FRIENDS spinoff. Wasn't as bad as I feared. The writing wasn't as sophisticated as in the best of FRIENDS, but the actors were very good, including (and especially, in a surprise for me) Matt LeBlanc. I'm optimistic, now.
Plot: Joey arrives in LA to try his luck. One of his sisters is a hair dresser there and she has a 20-year son who is a rocket scientist. Things don't go smoothly for Joey in the work and home fronts.

I think my Brother's got hold of that one. I assumed it was somekind of documentary
It stars Chris Gorham ?? I'll give it 6 episodes before the inevitable ;)

The second episode of MEDICAL INVESTIGATION was slightly better. I'm familiar with the formula now. The bull-headed McDonough was allowed some sympathetic moments. Gorham had a couple very good moments. The plot was still by-the-numbers but watching this team unravel the medical mystery might be an easy way to spend the 10 o'clock hour. It's main competition will be the new Rob Lowe/Joey Pantaliano show DR VEGAS. I saw some promo footage and it intrigued me (well...the pretty girls did anyway).

JOEY's ratings for the first episode was a very healthy 18.6 million viewers but compared to the regular viewership of FRIENDS, it can also be considered a disappointment.

Medical Investigation is already in our bad books - it was put on instead of Nip/Tuck last Thursday

I'll be interested to see how the second episode does.

The numbers for MI weren't too bad;
1x01 - 8.3/14
1x02 - 7.5/13

NBC cleverly premiered MI three weeks before it's main competition premieres (DR VEGAS with Lowe and Pants--have you seen the actresses in that show?!).

I watched Joey yesterday...or was it Friday? Anyway, I thought it was ok, but it seemed rather, I dunno, corny or something. And it was quite obvious humour that you could see coming a mile off. But I didn't hate it or anything, just thought it was an okay first ep. :)

I thought it was ok. Not Friends, but after 10 years, that's no bad thing in my book. Thing to remember is that it's only the pilot, most of them aren't very indicative of the series itself.

Haven't checked Dr Vegas out yet John. After the successful resurrection of Rob Lowe's career with The Stand and The West Wing, he's going to have to prove himself all over again after Lyon's Den and the Salem's Lot remake
Tell me more about this actress though ;)

who is it? Put up a pic!!!
regards Joey - have they changed it at all from the one that you could download a couple of months ago?
Crichton Kicks - September 13, 2004 08:51 AM (GMT)
Slight changes, like one of the cast members being replaced, although arguably, the wrong one

Who got changed?

The next door neighbour, the one Joey was hitting on. Although for my money, they should have dumped the sister. Annoying doesn't do her justice

Oiy! Second episode of JOEY. Oiy! Even the acting couldn't rescue this one!
Looking forward to the ratings. It's competition premiered (or almost premiered) this week. SURVIVOR began. THE OC began but with a behind-the-scenes show--and another one next week--before the actual storylines begin.
