Title: Joan Of Arcadia Or Wonderfalls
Description: To download or not...

So it's been a few weeks since I downloaded anything (and nothing since upgrading to 1MB!!), and thought it was probably time to have a look on suprnova. I saw the whole season of Joan of Arcadia there, for the first time, for about 8gig, and also the whole season of Wonderfalls for 4gig.
I'm still at the point where I've only seen the first 4 episodes of Wonderfalls (which I really liked), cos I had kinda come to the conclusion that I would buy the dvd, but now its tempting... Does the rest of the season (well, half of it anyway) match up to the first 4 eps?
Joan of Arcadia I haven't seen any of, but I have heard glowing reviews from the majority of people.
So, opinions anyone, which would you recommend I download?

I haven’t seen any of JoA either, but Wonderfalls starts out great and improves, it’s well worth the d/l :) With the second half of the season it becomes more about the characters and less about helping people (a little like Angel S2 getting it’s own arc ;) )

I'm currently downloading the remainder of Wonderfalls off Suprnova
Joan of arcadia was okay though Michelle. I've watched the whole series now, it's better than I previously thought, and well worth a watch, but I probably wouldn't rush out to buy it. ;)
<waiting for James to comment>

Hmm, I might give Wonderfalls a shot first. Particularly as its a smaller file and less episodes to actually try and get round to watching. :D
Although, I don't want to risk the JoA torrent going before I have chance to get it.
In the meantime, I decided to try out the Dead like me pilot. 600 Mb to go. :)
Are only 14 eps in S1? Is it a HBO show?

Dead Like Me is Showtime - so, like HBO the season is 14 eps
I'm sure me or James could help you out with JoA.
If you're short of anything to download there's always B5 :)

As far as new shows went last season (with the possible exception of Carnivale), JoA pretty much p*ssed on everything else. I've seen both series, Arcadia is clearly superior, at least in my view anyway. There's also the added bonus of JoA coming back for a second season, whereas Wonderfalls won't be.

Factors to consider:
1) JoA is a drama with a wry smile, WONDERFALLS is absurdist comedy.
2) JoA is has a realistic, moody look while WONDERFALLS is cheery and bright.
3) JoA has a full season's worth of shows (approx 22) while WONDERFALLS has only 13 and no prospects for more.
4) WONDERFALLS will be coming out on DVD around the end of the year (in Region 1--I don't know about Region 2). There are no DVD plans for JoA...yet.
IMO:
JoA was the more consistent show, however I only saw the first four episodes of WONDERFALLS (which I thought varied considerably in quality).
By it's nature, JoA was more thought-provoking. While the heroine of WONDERFALLS was a philosophy major, it was less successful in dramatizing philosophical issues (but who tuned in for that?).
