DS9's theme was the best by a country mile!

Voyagers theme - one of the few good things about that series! :)

I haven't watched any form of Trek for a number of years (apart from the odd Enterprise, but does that count), and Voyager's is the only theme I can't remember!

I actually liked Voyager's theme. As I recall, I actually went out and bought an imported copy of the music from Caretaker :rolleyes:

I voted for THE NEXT GENERATION, bet you didnt see that one coming. :D

I have to admit I find both Voyager and DS9 a bit of a durge, theme music wise, like the original series even if it is very 60's and I have downloaded the complete version of the ENTERPRISE song which I sing along to occasionally

Funnily enough, it's the TNG one that I like least.

With both DS9 and Voyager, they have a classical quality to them which endures. TNG seems awfully dated when I hear it now.

Amazing. Voyager was my least favourite series but I thought the theme was the best. :wacko: Not just me then.

I had a feeling this would happen. ;)

It was me :o :whistling: I voted for TNG.

TOS is iconic, but that screeeeeching voice on the music just spoils it for me everytime!

DS9 never really liked it, always thought seasons 1-3 was to slow and boring. Seasons 4-7 was just the wrong kind of tempo. Yes more upbeat, but not like that!

VOY is good and written by, ofcorse the late great Jerry Goldsmith. But again always thought it to be to slow for what was the most part (especially in the later seasons) a very action orintated show. And those titles are really good, they kind of make the theme music more like background music.


So TNG it is then. It is just ever so slightly diffrent from the arragement used in the movies to make it a very rousing up beat theme for imho the very best sci-fi show in the world... ever! (And yes I already know that most of you think that goes to B5/Buffy/Farscape, but not for me :D :P :innocent: ) The shows that followed should have contiued this imho, but who ever listens to their doctor? :D

I see nobody has contributed to this thread for a while. I only joined you all yesterday and am really enjoying the chance to talk about Trek.

Oddly, DS9 was the only series I never got really into, seeing less than half a dozen episodes. But I voted it's theme as the best. I loved it when they re-arranged it and gave it a 'beat', if that's the right word.

Enterprise's closing theme and the original series would be runners up.

I'm always keen on the musical element as a musician myself, and have very much enjoyed a CD I've got called, "Original TV soundtracks - The best of Star Trek, 30th Anniversary Special".

The suite form The Visitor is beautiful and I could listen to The Inner Light again and again.

The theme to TNG is ok I suppose, but I remember it had been used on one of the movies and I just couldn't understand at the time why they'd want it for the new series in preference to composing a new one.

Somebody out there could tell me maybe??

I'm pretty sure that the first film used the tune and was then taken up by TNG. Why? Well I've been reading my TNG Companion which makes no mention of this so I can only assume that the producers liked it! :P

Of the series', DS9's my favourite as well. The full 'rock' version's quite interesting as well :lol:

My favourite Star Trek soundtrack though is the one for Generations, brilliant stuff :thumbsup:
