Title: Simmons Ready For Spidey 3

LoobiLou - May 6, 2004 08:37 PM (GMT)
J.K. Simmons, who reprises his role as J. Jonah Jameson in the upcoming Spider-Man 2, told SCI FI Wire that he's already on board for Spider-Man 3. "I am absolutely signed up and ready, willing and able and excited about doing Spider-Man 3," Simmons said in an interview. "I think the original plan was to do them every other year, but then [Spider-Man 2] ended up getting a little bit delayed, so we're doing a late June release instead of May. They like that Memorial Day slot, so I think that's the reason for doing a [May 4] 2007 release."

Simmons joked that he'd be happy to play the blustery Jameson every other year for the rest of his life. So far as developing the character, the actor explained that he actually didn't want to know too much more about Jameson. "You have to stay within the confines of what the character's relationships are," Simmons said. "Certainly, the comic books took him to some interesting places over the years. I don't see Triple-J ever being the focus of a Spider-Man movie. I'm not campaigning for that. I don't think that's the function the character serves. Having said that, it's always fun to have a little more to do and a little more screen time and to get to interact with more characters. But in this world I'm very happy to be one of the guys in the background helping to keep the thing afloat." Spider-Man 2 opens June 30.

I'm a big fan of Spiderman and loved the first movie. Can't wait for Spiderman 2 and it's great to hear that the third installment is already in the works.

All hail Stan Lee !!

Spiderman 2 potentially could be the film of the year looking at the clips etc that I have seen (although a friend of mine suspects that VAN HELSING will take that honour) and I cannot wait to see it.

I am pleased that they have already decided to do a third one providing it is not as crap as SUPERMAN 3 was!!!!

Crichton Kicks - May 9, 2004 09:44 AM (GMT)
Looking at Van Helsing, it looks good but I fully expect Spidey 2 to top it. The trailer is superb and Doc Ock looks amazing. Plus, it's Spidey, how can they go wrong ?? :)

Not tempting fate, honest.....

You would have thought that with SUPERMAN AND BATMAN but look at SUPERMAN 3 + 4 and BATMAN & ROBIN!!!

It's the same creative team behind the Spiderman ones though. Look at Batman for example. The first movie and Batman Returns were modern day masterpieces IMO. Love Burton's work. But as soon as Joel Schumacher got involved they went straight down the pan. He's actually received death threats over what he did to the Batman franchise.

Fingers crossed. Wonder who the villain will be in Spidey 3, I've heard it may be The Lizard after his small part in Spidey 2.

Waaah, where's MYSTERIO !!! :)

Spiderman 1 was fantastic! The perfect comic to film example, not a single thing wrong with it :) can’t wait for the second instalment.

Van Helsing is pants btw :)

Really ??

I'd heard good things about that. Oh well, I'll just do what I did with LOXG and get the DVD when it comes out :)

On the Spidey front, I agree. Superb adaptation, probably the best adaptation there's been so far. I just loved the whole Norman Osborne/Green Goblin story, that was straight out of the comics what with the paranoia/talking to himself scenes. Willem Dafoe was superb it has to be said, and I don't care what anyone says Tobey Maguire was actually pretty good as well, and as for Kirsten Dunst, well...... :lmao: Yowser !!

I didnt actually mind BATMAN FOREVER but BATMAN AND ROBIN is one of the worst films ever made.

Cannot wait to see SPIDERMAN 2 though.

Did you really hate THE HULK that much? I thought the ending was naff but other than that it was a typical 'first' film where you get the impression that the second will be much better.

Simple enough question Ken.

No need to be ashamed though, what with your Gates McFadden fixation, I'll happily admit to a passing admiration for Ms Dunst, I'm sure we can rustle up a few more, there's Eric with his Gillian Anderson gallery. See, all mounts up ;)

Did I mention my wife's a red ??

I wasn't much for The Hulk from the beginning to be honest Ken. Didn't like the old series that much, and after seeing what has been done with both the Spidey and X-Men franchises, and long before that Batman as well, hell even Superman, there's really no excuse for not getting things right in the first movie.

As good as Spidey was, Hulk wasn't, a similar story to Daredevil, I really wouldn't care less if they made a second one or not.

In Hulk, the pacing of the opening half was almost terminal, and then when things did start to get going the CGI was awful, it looked like a computer game.

As I said, had we not had Spidey and the X-Men in recent years then it may have worked better, but as it is, it's one of the worst adaptations in recent years, for my money at least.

Quite looking forward to the Fantastic Four movie myself. Let's hope they get a bit farther than the Roger Corman version did :)

Persephone - May 10, 2004 08:16 AM (GMT)
The CGI of the Hulk was terrible, I actually think the yay old series was more realistic :D

I'm looking forward to Spidey 2 though. I didn't know they were making a Fantastic Four movie, that could be interesting................

I'm to lazy to find out for myself, does any one know if Sam Raimi(the director of one of the finest cult films ever made The Evil Dead)is directing Spiderman 2?
