Title: Battlestar Galactica
Description: Don't know if this means anything

jamiearmour - August 13, 2004 09:42 PM (GMT)
On Skytext (page 704) someone sent in a letter about the new series of battlestar and whether Sky one would show the TV mini series before showing the new series. the reply was that the mini series was scheduled for the Autumn, before the series aired.

Now of course this could just mean, the mini series is being shown, leading right into the new series (could we be that lucky?) Or (more likely) they will show the mini and then show the actual series some time next year.

Whadda ya think?

The date I keep hearing for a Sky One showing of the new series is in October.

It's pretty safe to say at this point that we'll be getting it before the Sci-Fi Channel shows it in the States. Hurrah

It's been on Sky Movies for a while, so I'm certain Sky One will show it, fairly soon. I'm sure someone posted, that Sky would be semi-financing the series, so looks good :)

Sky One have stumped up cash for the first season and have committed to a second season as well. There's been speculation of late that the show may even see a second season greenlit before the first even airs :)

Sky One have also offered to plough cash into any second season of The 4400.

Good to see my boyfriends subscription fees going to the right place. i.e. Not into the pockets of halfwit footballers. (no offence meant to any premier league footie players who may be having this read to them)

With the money Sky make, they could easily finance a few of their own shows. They should take a leaf out of other subscription-based networks like HBO and Showtime. Practically anything coming out of the HBO stable is guaranteed quality !!

jamiearmour - August 14, 2004 09:48 PM (GMT)
Yes, 22 sweaty men with the average I.Q. of a tea cosy. Not really my cup of tea. That Wayne Rooney bloke, did they defrost him from a block of ice and through a jersey on him, or what?

And another thing.....................(rant, gibber, complain)

Persephone - August 14, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)

Finally, a UK airdate;

QUOTE

August 20, 2004 - New Drama Series: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - Sky One - Edgier and racier than its predecessor, the new Battlestar Galactica is a complete re-imagining of the 1970s series - upping the ante on the action, adventure and drama that made the original so popular. The groundbreaking story of man versus machine remains, but this time, the Cylon robot is no longer a recognisable enemy… it can move among man.

The series picks up where the highly successful miniseries (broadcast on Sky Movies in February 2004) finished; with the 12 colonies of man virtually destroyed in the climax of a hundred-year war with the Cylon empire. Now, President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and Commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) gather up the few humans left on the twelve worlds and embark on a journey to find the mythical planet Earth, the supposed thirteenth colony of mankind.

Battlestar Galactica stars Oscar nominees Olmos (Stand And Deliver) and McDonnell (Dances With Wolves), alongside James Callis (Bridget Jones’s Diary), Tricia Helfer (CSI), Jamie Bamber (Band Of Brothers), Katee Sackhoff (Halloween: Resurrection) and Grace Park (Romeo Must Die).

The re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica promises to give new life to the stories and ideas that were at the heart of the original series, speaking to both long-time fans and a new generation of admirers when it launches on Sky One in October.
Mini-Series: Thursday 14 October 21.00 & Friday 15 October 21.05 Sky One
Series: Monday 18 October 20.00 Sky One

Not long to wait now :)
