Title: Working Out Late At Night
Description: Shane and Jaqui

Shane jogged around the track outside, enjoying the cool breeze running through her short hair. She kept up a good pace before breaking out into a full run, her wolf wanting to be let free. She damn near howled at the moon as she ran, inhumanly fast around the open track.
She was oblivious to anything at the moment, so caught up in her running and listening to music that she had plugged in her ears from her ipod.

A hotel room was crampy at best, and worse yet was the couple next door who could wake up a neighbourhood with the noise they made. Whether they were arguing or knocking on the head board. Jaqui preferred the fresh air, especially at night when she could simply relax quielty by herself. She was resting on a bench, eyes closed, music drowning out any sound in the vicinity through the earplugs of her iPod when she caught the scent and her eyes flew open.
Wolf, the scent was distinct and as she opened up her senses she could feel the presence approaching, rather quickly in fact. She sat up and pulled one of the ear pieces out, scanning the area with her sharp eyes until she spotted her. A female out on a nightly jog it looked like. Jaqui simply watched her as she approached, expanding her own beast's aura just a bit so that the other woman would pick up on it. As the woman approached, Jaqui's gaze went to her eyes as her wolf greeted the other silently, || Greetings sister... ||

Shane ran faster, not really paying any attention to anything as she continued running. She enjoyed the feel of the night air as she let herself almost float into blessed oblvion. She was really getting into it when her wolf senses heightened and she slowed to a jog, the feeling of another wolf washed over. Her inner wolf reached out in greeting as she narrowed in on a woman sitting on a bench. [hello sister] She called out and stopped running altogether, moving over in the womans direction, "Hello sister, fine night to be out huh?" She smiled at her.

Sitting up further, Jaqui turned her iPod off and pulled the other piece out of her other ear as the wolf she'd sensed slowed upon feeling her there and began to approach her at what seemed to be a casual stroll. Her wolf took in the scent, committing it to memory since she would no doubt be running into much of the local pack now that she'd moved here.
Jaqui smiled in response to the other female wolf's friendly approach and a calm wash of energy spread out from her aura. She nodded in response to the question, "Yes, it really is, sister." Half waxing moon shining high above, casting its soft light around, though dulled by the street lights, which was why Jaqui was in the middle of a park area. She tilted her head studying the other woman for a moment, still smiling, "Have the urge to go for a jog myself," She glanced down at her clothing, skirt and singlet, "Though not really dressed for it."
Smiling lightly up at the other woman, her wolf's aura spread out curiously, to meet this other. If she was a part of lukoi, then Jaqui would be meeting her eventually no doubt. "I'm Jaqueline. New to town."

Shane smiled and looked over the womans attire, very punk rock look indeed. She thought it fitted this woman, this fellow wolf. She responded, "It's a perfect night for one, attire shouldn't matter right now."
She chuckled, "Look at me, I'm dressed for swimming and I wound up jogging instead. I like your name Jaqui, very pretty, much better than Shane." She grinned at her, her wolf smelling her and liking the scent. "I'm fairly new here too, relocated from the army. You?"

Jaqui chuckled lightly as she nodded along with the statement, indeed it was a perfect night, and if she was closer to a forest or parkland area, then she'd be more than happy to let loose without a care in the world, but inside town it was a little risky to be doing what she was thinking of. "Attire usually doesn't matter when I'm out for a proper run." Her eyebrows rose as she emphasised 'proper'. If she was going to go for a jaunt, she usually preferred it to be with her animal.
"Well dressed for swimming is still a lot better than having to hike up a skirt," Jaqui chuckled again and then thought for a brief moment, "Of course I have the option of underwear, I'm sure that's not much different than a bikini or something." She didn't embarrass easily, her confidence just another part of her acceptance of who she was.
Jaqui's head tilted slightly at he compliment, and smiled with an appreciative nod, "There's nothing wrong with Shane, its a strong name." She could pick up on the other wolf's acceptance of her and she smiled, expanding her calm nurturing aura just a little further, but not so much that it would bother Shane, "The army, wow. I just moved from Virginia. Grew up with a pack, my mother is vargamor for the lukoi in Richmond. But I had to leave... there was an incident." Jaqui's gaze drifted sligtly as the memory replayed itself. She shook herself out of it, it was past, "Enjoying Miami so far?"

"Thank you about my name, I've just never been too fond of it because it's a boys name too." Shane chuckled before continuing as she pocketed her ipod, "Yeah, I actually learned how to control my wolf and become one with it through the lukoi within the army. They took me in when they found out what I was cause up until then, I was a loner in the military. Once they took me in, they taught me everything and I eventually even became the pack leader, alpha female." She smiled at the memories crossing her mind.
"It was a good experience for me, I miss them at times. At least you had a more stable life I assume since you lived in Virgina rather than going all over the place. What happened if you don't mind my asking?" Shane's curiosity got to her before she quickly added, "I understand if you'd rather not say."

"Well in all fairness, Jac could be considered a man's name as well," Jaqui smiled up at the other wolf. She listened intently to Shane's story, nodding as she shpoke of how the lukoi within the army helped her control her beast. For Jaqui, it had felt natural to fall into, but she realised sometimes there were difficulties, she had assisted her share of young wolves in her time. Her eyebrows raised when Shane mentioned she'd become the alpha female, taking charge of the lukoi. "So you were a female Ulfric? That's rare."
Jaqui considered her life and nodded slightly, placing her hands as well as her ipod calmly in her lap, "Yes, my life really was quite stable. My mother being a witch and vargamor, I grew up knowing the ways of lukoi already. My... infection, I guess, was an accident. My boyfriend at the time was a wolf, he accidentally scratched me." She shrugged lightly with a smile, "It wasn't so bad, I fell into it naturally and accepted my wolf, so I never really had problems controlling her."
When Shane asked what happened, Jaqui visibly stilled. She could still smell the blood whenever she thought about it, her wolf could still remember the thrill of battle. She had nothing to hide though, and eventually someone would learn why she left,. She sighed, "The Lupa... she didn't like the idea of a more domanant female than her. Someone had started a rumour that I was a natural, and she challenged me to a fight... I won..." Jaqui hesitated for a moment, but then continued to the finish, "I killed her... and the Ulfric told me to leave." She gazed into the distance for a moment in thought, "I think the only reason he didn't kill me was because I hadn't issued the challenge... and because she tried to cheat."
Jaqui turned back to Shane, the calm, if slightly sad, smile back on her lips, "And that's my story..."
Shane Richardson - March 18, 2008 05:51 AM (GMT)
Shane smiled at her first sentence, "I became the Ulfric because the leader of the pack, Armand, had stepped down and the pack took a vote at who should be the next one to lead them. They began joking around that I should because it was either that or Lupa and they knew I would never go for that considering I'm lesbian." Shane sighed, "So, the joke eventually turned into reality as members of our pack began getting smaller and smaller, some of them being shipped off elsewhere while others were either killed in battle or had fulfilled their contracts. We got new members every other month or so when we'd go back to where we were stationed in England." She finished explaining taking a deep breath.
She could feel Jaqueline's sadness and let her wolf surface, reaching out to her gently to lift her spirits as she continued talking, "You don't blame yourself for that do you Jaqui? You shouldn't, from what you just told me none of that was your fault. The lupa issued the challenge and not you. The Ulfric was wrong to make you leave for that, it was his mates fault, not yours." She spoke gently.
Jaqueline Luna - March 18, 2008 06:20 AM (GMT)
Jaqui chuckled at the reasoning behind Shane becoming Ulfric of her own lukoi. It was a shame that they had been separated so easily, but then that was the way of the army she supposed. "That would have been an interesting pack. My old one is quite stable with a large number of wolves. We often had newcomers, but only occasionally someone would leave or be forced out." She considered the boy who'd infected her with a sad smile, he'd left because he'd felt guilty for what he'd done, even if it was an accident.
She felt Shane's own wolf rise to the surface to comfort her own, and smiled lightly. She was used to being the comforter, the 'mother wolf', so it was a nice feeling to be able to speak about her own experience. "Actually, I don't blame myself. But I feel sad for my old Ulfric who lost his mate. In honesty, she wasn't a good Lupa, and only had the position by default because she was the Ulfric's mate before he came into power." Jaqui sighed and shrugged with a small smirk, "And I think the other reason I had to leave was because the lukoi would have wanted me to become Lupa... but neither of us would ever see each other as mate. We were more like siblings." Raising an eyebrow, she continued, "And of course, while I was still there, no other female would stand a chance at rising to the position properly." It was truth, but it still felt strange to say it out loud.
Jaqui had never considered her position among lukoi, except that she was a natural mother type who was strong enough to call another's wolf to the surface, or to suppress it in calm. She'd never considered that it might be seen as a threat by others. "Hopefully the same thing doesn't happen again. I don't want anything that isn't mine." She shrugged lightly with a warm smile.
