Title: Nothing Left To Lose
Description: (CLOSED; Adelphus)

Drizzle.
It was the softest of freezing rain drizzles that made it's slow descent toward the car in which was trying to make it to the Puteulanus Luna Pack Safe House, though the driver of said car was having a great deal of trouble getting to the safe house. And whether it was the fact that he was nervous about Angel sitting behind him in the middle of the night and demanding to get to the safe house, or the simple fact that he had no clue what he was doing, Angel just didn't know. She had given up on trying to figure it out as well.
Letting a soft sigh escape her slightly pink lips, Angel toward her chocolate brown eyes toward the window. Looking passed the droplets of water that clung to the window, Angel could barely make out shapes and figures as the car sped through the city, toward the safe house. She could see glimpses of people just wandering the streets - a few of them without umbrella's - and the only thing she could think to ask herself, despite everything going one was, "Are any of them like me?"
Hearing this, the taxi driver looked at her through the rear view mirror, "What was that, Miss?" he questioned.
"Nothing...Nothing at all..." Angel said, waving away his question as she kept her gaze on the outside world.
It wasn't as though she had meant the question sound so rude, or selfish in any way, shape, or form. But for Angel, who had just recently discovered her newfound abilities, there were just too many questions wandering through her head. What would happen if the others found out? If her family out, she knew for sure what would happen. Either they would take kindly to the news and try to help her as best they could, or they would just push her aside and focus more on her baby sister, Willow. And having already been through that once, Angel didn't want or need a repeat of that. It had been her choice to opt out of telling her parents, though in the back of her mind she realized it was a rather foolish mistake. They would have understood.
But what about the kids from her new school? She had spent quite a bit of her time the previous few months to get accepted into a private school, and the last thing she needed was to blow all of that on her own selfish acts. No, having just now realized what it was she was, Angel needed some help. To start with, she had no idea as to how to control the transformations, or any of the new abilities she found herself greeted with. The last thing she needed was to be living in a dorm room and accidentally attacking her roommate and then having to explain why she had attacked her roommate. No, that was just something she wouldn't be able to do. Period. And the only option she had left was go to a safe house, seek some help there. Perhaps with the help of the other pack members, she would be able to find a way to control the transformations. It was worth a shot, at least if it didn't work, she wouldn't have lost anything. If anything, she would have at least gained some new friends, or at least someone she could talk to if she ever needed it. And that was enough for her. If in the event it didn't help, she wouldn't feel so lost and confused.
Slowly, the taxi slowed to a stop, and Angel had to blink her way otu of her clouded thoughts before she could realize where they were. They had finally arrived at the safe house. With a slight smile, Angel thanked the driver before getting out of the car and shutting the door behind her. Though, the moment she heard the door close, the car sped off away from the curb and away from Angel and the safe house. Well, that at least explained one thing. The driver had been more afraid of the fact that she was a wolf more so then anything else. Yet another reason why she wasn't too thrilled about her new transformation.
For the second time that night, Angel let out a sigh before stepping forward toward the door. There was only one real way to find out whether she would be able to get the help here. And that meant she needed to speak with the pack leader. Surely that wouldn't be much of a problem. The majority of the time, Angel was a people person. She got along well with others and felt comfortable about talking to people. Surely this wouldn't be any different.
Reaching the door, Angel managed to gather up enough to courage to knock a few times at the door before letting her arm fall back down to her side.
Only time would tell now whether any of this would help...

Ever since losing his mate, Haley, both Adelphus and his wolf had withdrawn into themselves and spent little time around the Pack, something they both were starting to realise was making things worse rather than better and was unfair on the Pack as a whole. He had lost his mate, they had lost their Lupa; surely it would be better for them to be together? These thoughts had been running through his mind all of that morning, and it was this that inspired him to rise from his bed, shower and dress in a pair of slightly ragged but tight jeans and a plain black t-shirt, leaving his hair tousled from the shower as he knew it would dry into soft spikes from the way it was cut anyway.
It was as he was padding barefoot down the stairs towards the kitchen when he heard the sound of a car engine moving back down the hill from the safe house and felt the energy of a female wolf outside, approaching the door. Curious, as the energy was not that of any of his Pack, Adelphus rather than turning left at the bottom of the stairs to go into the kitchen instead carried straight onwards towards the thick, heavy oak door. It was a serviceable barrier; he had bought two of the doors and personally attacked the spare with all he had to see how easy it was to break after the reinforcements had been added, and found that it was not worth the energy trying to break through the door as all it ever did was splinter and stick in his skin but never let him get all the way through it. That was good, it meant the Pack was safer and that was his main duty.
Reaching the door just as the wolf outside knocked on it, Adelphus opened it with an attempt at a smile though these always appeared slightly sombre from him even when elated; looking at the young woman before him with the door held open by one hand, the other at his side.
"Welcome, hunt sister. Are you alright?"

Standing out for only a few seconds in the soft drizzling rain, Angel wasn't by any means soaked by the water. It was just a few soft sprinkes that seemed to occur more and more with each passing second. Her light brown hair was only now starting to get wet from the soft drizzle. Though, standing by the door and waiting for it to open up, a few droplets of rain feel onto her face, sliding down her cheeks. A few drops clinged to her eye lashes, as though afraid of what awaited them if they were to fall from her. She was their safety net as far as she could see.
Perhaps the raindrops that clung to her was no different then what she was at this moment. Having no where else to turn, and needing a place where she could safely be with other pack members and not have to worry about harming the others around her - namely her class mates at a nearby private school - it seemed as though Angel was clinging for deal life on the pack and the safe house, as though if she let go someting far worse then death would be there to greet her. Though, this wasn't exactly her intentions in the slightest bit, it was the closest thing she could explain it.
She didn't have to wait long for someone to come to the door, because it wasn't but a few seconds after she had knocked that the door swung open. The man that greeted her seemed to smile at her, though the smile didn't quite reach his eyes. As though something troubling had found itself within him and he was now struggling with something or other. Though, it wasn't any of Angel's business, but she couldn't let it slide unnoticed.
"I should be asking you the same thing," she said with a slight smile. She didn't complete this thought, but instead she introduced herself, "I am Angel Echo, seeking a pack that will willingly take me in."
It was the best she could do in the way of a formal greeting, but she had hoped it would suffice for the time being, as she had nothing else to say. The entire taxi ride over to the safe house, and that was as much as Angel could think to say.

Taking in the sight of the young female, sensing she was relatively new to being lukoi or nervous enough to have a slightly weaker reign on her energy, Adelphus gave a soft, short, laugh and shook his head with that same sombre smile. His eyes, dark and slanted due to being Japanese, were hard to show emotion with unless he focused on showing it or had a particularly strong emotion, due to the way in which they were near black so there was little distinction between pupil and iris.
"I've never been a particularly open-faced person with smiles and the like; genetics. I'm rolling around laughing on the inside."
From his tone of voice the female would know he was joking, but Adelphus did not want to offload any problems on the wolf with it being her first visit. True, anybody who knew him would have pointed out he never offloaded anyway, but that was not the point in focus.
Standing to the side and motioning for the female to come in out of the rain, Adelphus waited for her to be standing in the hallway before shutting the door; turning back to her and holding a hand out to shake, the energy of his wolf a soft vibration so she could get a sense of him and vice versa without being overwhelmed with energy.
"I am Adelphus Beckett, Ulfric of Puteulanus Luna. Good to meet you Angel, you needn't worry about us being willing to take you in; all lukoi are welcome here. Would you like anything to eat or drink, or just to sit down?"
Angel Echo - March 20, 2008 05:30 PM (GMT)
Angel couldn't help but grin at the joke, or at least she had hoped it was a joke. Typical for most average people, instead of completely answering a question as it would usually lead into them feeling the need to discuss what was troubling them, that person would usually try for a different tactic. One that would hopefully lead to said person forgetting about the question they had tried to ask in hopes they would share with them. Coming from this particular person, Angel could only assume he would rather make friendly jokes, just to prevent himself from actually having to answer the question that had been asked.
She coudln't help but think this was amusing, if for no other reason then the fact he seemed rather good at making a joke out of something, even if something was troubling him. Most times, that was hard for any regular person to do by any means. But there was something about this person that made it almost possible for him to get away with turning a sad mood into a joke, even if it didn't seem to lift his spirits.
"I think the majority of people could say the same thing," Angel said, commenting on the joke.
She fell silent though and was rather glad when the man stepped out of the way a little and let her walk inside. Smiling politely, Angel passed the man and stepped through the threshold into the safehouse, which seemed to lead her into the hallway. She tunred her gaze back and found he had shut the door before turning back to her.
"I am honored," Angel said politely, "And it is nice to meet you, Adelphus." she thought about his next question before saying, "Do you have any Hot Chocolate?"
Adelphus Beckett - March 20, 2008 10:02 PM (GMT)
Smiling with a nod, Adelphus motioned for Angel to follow him into the spacious kitchen done entirely in a modern Japanese fashion. Everything was clean and in contrasting lines; black granite with white veins for counter tops, black handles on wooden cupboard doors and matching wood floor, bamboo blinds on the window and the various signs of Japanese cooking from both utensils and packaging.
Turning to show Angel she could sit on a bar stool against the island in the middle of the kitchen which contained a hotplate and some artfully arranged herbs in pots, Adelphus turned to rumage through a cupboard to get the hot chocolate then turned and switched the kettle on to make it. As he was making the drink, Adelphus continued the conversation as it felt more friendly to do so, and occasionaly glanced up at her from the cup until it was done and he could hand it to her before leaning against the counter top with his arms folded, looking slightly up at her now from being bent over and her sitting up straight.
"So..where do you hail from Angel?"
Angel Echo - April 1, 2008 09:49 PM (GMT)
Angel was rather relieved when Adelphus smiled and gave her a nod before motioning her to follow him into the kitchen. The fact that the entire trip over to this particular Safe House she had been rather stuck on the fact that if she didn't make a good impression there was no way she would be allowed entrance into the pard. Also factoring in the fact that she had spent at least twnety mintues or so contemplating what the Ulfric would be like seemed to add to how much she needed to be worried. But for the few moments that she had been in the Puteulanus Luna Pack Safe House, it seemed as though the Ulfric wasn't at all what she had been expecting in an Ulfric.
Though Angel's knowledge of werewolves really only went as far as what she had read in books and seen on the Internet. Though, she did read a great number of books, so she did know quite a bit about werewolves. But books were ntohing really compared to the real thing. The fact that she at least had some knowledge of werewolves helped, but it didn't completely ease her nerves. What did help was the fact that Adelphus seemed rather kind, at least at the moment.
Following close behind him, Angel could only but stare in awe as she examined the room that was set before her. The kitchen was like nothing she had ever seen...Though that wasn't a bad thing by any means, in fact it was rather beautiful. But examing the room closely, Angel could only but note that the room was entire done in a Japanese sort of fashion - which she had only seen once again through books and television - but everything seemed rather spotless to say the least. The fact that nothing was out of place and everything seemed to be in order seemed to help add to the neatness of the kitchen.
Being momentarily in awe at what she found in the kitchen, Angel had barely noticed that Adelphus had motioned her over to a bar stool that seemed to be placed near the island which happened to be in the middle of the kitchen. Gladly, Angel accepted the seat and watched as Adelphus dug through the cubboards and begun to prepare the drink. All the while, Angel found her chocolate brown eyes gaze scan the rest of the room, still momentarily surprised by how nice the kitchen appeared.
Her gaze had been turned back to Adelphus as he handed over the cup of hot chocolate before he leaned against the top of the counter to look at her
Taking a slow sip of the liquid, Angel set the cup down before saying, "The other side of Miami...Not to far from here. I moved out here to attend a Private School about ten minutes or so away from here." she explained politely.
She fell silent after this before motioning at the kitchen, "I like the kitchen...I mean, the fashion is just very beautiful." she said with a smile.
Adelphus Beckett - April 11, 2008 07:57 PM (GMT)
Ndding wth a faint smile, knowing the school of which Angel was speaking well, Adelphus ran a hand through his spiky black hair to push a stray strand out of his face before replying.
"I know the school well, one of the Pack is in her last year there. She lives here because of the way she can combine closeness to the Pack with closeness to the school."
It took a moment for Adelphus to realise that his statement probably seemed like a push for Angel to move in despite it being mere minutes that they had known each other. Giving a soft chuckle and shaking hs head, Adelphus looked up at Angel with a wry smile.
"Though that is not in any way a 'you have to move in too'. You stay wherever is comfortable for you. Thank you, I took a fair bit of care and time setting it up how I liked it. All through the house are things to remind me of my old home; I feel it bings something personal to the Pack house. All the wolves here have free reign over their room decor, and have personal bits and bobs all over the place."
Pointing to a book on the edge of a large wooden dining table partially hidden by the kitchen wall, the dining room directly next to the kitchen, Adelphus looked back to Angel with another smile.
"As you can no doubt see."
