Personality description: Jin Lien is a businesswoman, so she mostly shows her serious side outside of her apartment. In her shop, she is serious and brisk, bustling around and almost always busy. But once it is closing time, when the shop lights go down and the closed sign is put up in the window, Jin Lien allows herself to relax and allows her serious face to melt away. She is still rather quiet, but she allows herself to entertain ideas beyond business. As a lover, Jin Lien is patient with gentle hands and soft words.

History: Jin Lien was born the youngest child and daughter of Chinese immigrants to Miami. She was raised with three older brothers, each looking out for their baby sister though they teased Jin Lien relentlessly. One would expect with being raised with three older brothers, that Jin Lien would be a tomboy, but that was not the case. The Chinese girl actually turned out to be rather feminene, even if her tastes tended to run towards the strange and unusual. Jin Lien learned how to sew at a young age and discovered she had quite the talent for it. She began designing her own clothes when she went into high school and they soon became the rage of the school.

Jin Lien was a freshman in high school when she was infected with lycanthropy. She was attacked by a flock of ravens, which turned out to be lycans who were defending their nests and confused the human for a predator. At first, the Chinese girl hated her new gift and worked hard to control it. Her grandfather, a priest, tried to find an activity that would distract the girl and to help control her inner raven. And so Jin Lien took up the throwing knives. The practice and concentration it took to make the daggers sing through the air and hit the target was enough to keep the girl's lycanthropy under control enough to assume a semi-normal life.

When Jin Lien graduated from high school, she went to a designer's class in a community college then set out to open her own store. At first, she worked as a designer at a well-known fashion company to support herself and to gain experience and add more designs to her store for when she got the chance to open it. It only took a few years before Jin Lien had the money she needed to open the shop. Settled in downtown Miami, The Steel Lotus caters to the unusual clothing styles commonly found on vampires, witches, and the like. As Jin Lien runs the shop, she continues to design more fashions for her growing business.

Writing Sample: Jin Lien bustled through her store, the long skirt of her dress rustling along the floor as she moved around, getting things just right before she opened the store for the day. She didn't get much business this early in the day, most of her business was in the evening when the vampires would come or send their human or lycan servants to get their clothes. It was interesting to see how the lycans served their vampire masters and just how much control said vampires had over their servants. So far, none had seemed interested in the wereraven, so she figured she was safe.

The Chinese woman looked around the shop one last time before she walked over to the window and flipped the sign to 'Open'. Across the street, she could see the people working on the down-trodden store there. She hadn't bothered to go out and talk to the new owners, since it seemed like they were bent on their privacy until the shop opened. Jin Lien would make the normal welcoming visit once the place was open for business. She reached over and flicked on the light in the window, illuminating a few of the dresses she had designed and placed on display to attract customers. So far, Jin Lien had seen few humans come inside her walls that were not associated with the vampires. It seemed her styles were too outrageous for the adverage human.
