Title: A fortunate meeting
Description: TAG: Haley

Adelphus Beckett - November 19, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
Strolling along the beach in one of his now rare moments where he could have some time to himself, Adelphus turned to look out over the water with a pensive face, one hand running through his hair. He was still getting used to having it short again, but it was getting better now.

He had been thinking about the Pack and himself near constantly since Kelsi had quizzed him on his life past, present and future, and he wanted to make sure he was doing everything right for the Pack, and right now that included a good plan as to what was the best way to keep them all safe and working as a family as well as a group.

Sitting down in the sand he rested his head on one hand and simply stared out with a soft sigh, just thinking and relaxing.

Haley Rollins - November 19, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
"No," Haley said gently, sighing, shifting the cellphone against her shoulder, "I'll talk to Annalise, I promise, I jus' haven't yet. Look, I gotta go," she said, smiling despite her frustration, "I'll call y'all tomorrow, alright?" Pause. "I love you, too. Bye," she said softly, pocketing the phone and turning her gaze toward the water with another quiet sigh. She wasn't upset, or even frustrated really, that was a strong word for how she felt. She was just...stuck.

She wanted to go home, badly. She really wanted to go home to her family, to her old pack. But to do that would be giving up her independence, something she hadn't ever had, as Annalise and her parents had been so overprotective of her, that they hadn't given her a chance to grow up beyond their shadow. She'd pretty much been born into that pack, and she really, really wanted to find a Pack of her own, one she chose, one she was invited into. One that accepted her because they wanted to, not because they had to.

She slowly dragged her feet through the sand, contemplating it all, the idea of going home, why she hadn't contacted the other local pack just yet, and paused, sniffing curiously as she stood. The scent was stronger than the salty ocean, and she smiled, until she saw who it belonged to. The smile faded at the edges at his expression, but she continued approaching slowly, until she was a few feet away. Crouching down in the sand, skirt bunching around her ankles, she smiled warmly, and teased tentatively, "How can you look so glum when the ocean's so pretty?"

Adelphus Beckett - November 19, 2007 10:19 PM (GMT)
Scenting wolf on the air above the salty brine of the ocean, both Adelphus and his wolf turned as one to look at the female the scent belonged to, taking her in quickly before resting his eyes on her face and leaving them there, smiling warmly into her eyes.

"I guess deep thinking makes me look glum. Please, sit."

Patting the sand beside him, Adelphus smiled gently and let his wolf continue to analyse her scent, quickly identifying the numbers of her Pack before now and where she had been recently within the city before settling back down into a lying position, staring out at the ocean whilst Adelphus kept his eyes on the young woman to be polite.

Haley Rollins - November 19, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
"My mistake," Haley apologized, still smiling, and closed her eyes briefly while her own wolf perked up to take in the situation. It was only a matter of moments before both Haley and her wolf were able to recognize leadership, possibly an Ulfric, though as submissive as she was, she sometimes mistook extreme dominance for such. She brushed her hair from her face and, with his invitation, finished approaching and sat down on the sand beside him, drawing her knees up to her chest, skirt still fully covering her legs and dragging the sand.

Turning her head and laying her cheek as her wolf settled down again, she smiled at him and said, "I'm sorry, I didn' mean t'interrupt, little too nosy sometimes."

Adelphus Beckett - November 19, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
Adelphus couldn't hold back the smile that formed at her apology for interrupting...so much like Kelsi and yet so different. Turning to face the woman better, he held out his hand for her to shake and at the same motion let his wolf pad up through him so that when their hands touched he would be able to brush up against her wolf and take her measure, though gently.

"Without curiosity we would not know anywhere near as much as we do now I don't think, I am Adelphus, pleased to meet you."

Haley Rollins - November 19, 2007 10:35 PM (GMT)
Haley grinned, she couldn't help it; Adelphus reminded her so much of her old pack that she could've cried. She didn't, she was smiling too much, but it was there, somewhere, the nostalgia he'd triggered. She too, turned in the sand a little, and extended her hand and shook his gently, her wolf recognizing the approach from his as a slight measure of sizing up, of figuring her out, and she allowed him easily, kneeling down and resting her head against her paws as he brushed against her.

"A pleasure to meet you as well," Haley said, very sincerely, grinning as she shook his hand. "I'm Haley, an' if that's true, about the curiosity, think I jus' might be a genius," she joked, grin widening.

Adelphus Beckett - November 19, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
Half ignoring his wolf as he padded around the crouched female, Adelphus stopped watching him though he could feel the way his wolf was gently nuzzling at the female to let her know she could stand and take a look at him too rather than it being all one-sided. Removing his hand from Haley's he nodded and gave a soft laugh.

"Of that I have no doubt, I have a girl in my Pack who is so curious it is astounding, and she seems incredibly smart so there must be a link."

Tilting his head a moment to look back out at the ocean and the way the light played on the surface of the water, he turned back with his smile still in place and folded his hands in his lap though they were still close enough that their wolves could continue to interact freely.

"What Pack did you live with before you came here, if you don't mind me asking?"

Haley Rollins - November 19, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
Haley's wolf happily got to her feet with the nuzzle, stretching out and carefully padding forward, though slowly, to gently sniff at the other, examining him with just the same curiosity as Haley often carried herself. Haley resisted the urge to laugh and began trying to ignore her own wolf when she nuzzled playfully once in thanks for the allowance to take a look as well.

Instead, Haley grinned and glanced to the ocean, letting the familiar comfort of being around one of her kind sink in, before turning back to Adelphus, still smiling, laying her own hands down in the sand. "I was with Clarus Cogo, in Georgia, for my entire life," she explained, smile going gentle and warm, "And I was with the Pack in Coral Gables for two years, but I didn't...fit very well with them," she said simply.

Adelphus Beckett - November 19, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
Letting his wolf give a playful growl and nuzzle the younger female back gently, Adelphus continued to ignore them and smiled slightly, giving a soft nod at the mention of both Pack names.

"If you don't mind me asking another question, why were you with the Clarus Cogo all of your life? Did you have family who were wolves?"

Adelphus finally turned his attention back onto their wolves as his much larger Japanese wolf playfully pounced towards the smaller one. Though he knew that his wolf was fully aware of how much bigger he was than the normal breeds of wolf, Adelphus still wanted to make sure that there were no accidents, especially with a potential new Pack member.

Haley Rollins - November 19, 2007 11:03 PM (GMT)
Haley too, was keeping an eye on her own wolf; though rather small as red wolves were, despite being submissive, she'd been told time and time again while growing up that her wolf was one of the most playful, affectionate the majority of her pack had ever encountered from a sub. She wasn't ever told if that was a good thing or a bad thing, though she supposed it really didn't matter, as her wolf leaned forward on her front legs, paws pressing into the ground and tail swaying happily before lunging forward and pouncing up beside the other, and then rolled onto her side, paws waving in the air happily before getting to her feet once more.

Turning her attention from the wolves, Haley grinned at Adelphus, cheek still resting against her knees. "I've been a Lycan most of my life, I can't remember not ever being one, I was scratched when I was really, really little. I was kind of passed back and forth between the Pack and my real parents, sort of," she grinned, and shrugged her shoulders.

Adelphus Beckett - November 19, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
Chuckling at the sight of the wolf playing and rolling around near the older one, Adelphus' wolf crouched down to imitate the female and waved his tail a few times, waiting for the pounce with a wolfish grin, enjoying the chance to play.

Nodding at the knowledgte that Haley had been a wolf for a long time, Adelphus looked at her quietly a moment then stretched slightly. He had been a wolf for years, but to of become a wolf as a child would of been so much harder to handle he thought. Though then again..growing up with your beast, the two would grow together and live perfectly well together. Haley certainly seemed to be at peace and in control at all times...

"Well I'm glad being raised with your Pack family and your biological family has turned out such a wonderful young woman then Haley. I myself was not very close with my family until I realised how much they meant, but by then it was too late so I have made the Pack my family."

Haley Rollins - November 19, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
Haley couldn't stop grinning if she tried, not when her wolf's eyes were following the older one's tail wagging back and forth, and definitely not when she finally pounced forward, tackling the other, though gently and not exactly knocking him over as he was a great deal larger than her, nipping playfully at him.

Haley smiled wistfully at what he'd said about his own family. She couldn't imagine not being close with her family - her Pack or her real parents. She was so close to all of them that it physically hurt sometimes, being so far away from them, never seeing them, phone calls being all the contact there was between them all. But she knew this was necessary, that everything that had happened thus far had been the result of someone else's doing. She had to find her own way.

"Oh, I'm not wonderful," she laughed, blushing, she couldn't help it, "But they really are amazin', all of them. I never felt like I didn't belong at home or with the Pack." Her voice softened a little with that and she couldn't help it, she looked away briefly, toward the water. She missed being a part of a family so much sometimes, that it was hard to discuss it all. Shaking her head, clearing it, smile returning almost instantly, she asked gently, "So your Pack is your only family now?" She wouldn't ask about his human family, it wasn't her business, but as always, curiosity was overtaking.

Adelphus Beckett - November 19, 2007 11:40 PM (GMT)
Giving a laugh when his wolf moved to let himself be pounced and nipped at by the younger wolf, Adelphus watched as the two started to circle each other, looking for an opening to pounce again. His wolf suddenly bounded forwards and stood on all fours over the younger wolf, bringing his head between his legs to lick the nose of the red wolf with a playful growl before half laying down so the other wolf was gently pinned in a way that was easy enough to escape from.

"Yes, my father is still alive but I do not get the chance to talk with him often. He is deaf so I can only write to him and it takes a while to get letters back and fore from Japan. But, my Pack is growing steadily and the wolves I have are one of the best families I could hope for. I only hope they find me fit to lead them."

Haley Rollins - November 19, 2007 11:49 PM (GMT)
Haley was laughing as well now, she couldn't hold it back, she hadn't seen her wolf become this playful in a long time, not since her first pack. Her former Ulfric in Florida, as well as the majority of the dominants in the Pack, had seen to it that the few submissives were not given a chance to 'act out', so to speak. To see her wolf this happy made Haley all the more happy herself; they were one, after all. Her wolf let out a surprised, playful yelp when the older wolf pounced and pinned her down, squirming halfheartedly to get out from beneath him. She growled softly, playfully, and leaned up to lick the other wolf's cheek fur, escaping from the pinning once she'd done that, and nuzzled him gently before bounding back and forth, lunging forward and back in excitement all over again.

Haley gave him an understanding smile, digging her fingertips down into the soft sand beneath her hands. "My sister is deaf in one ear, not the same thing at all, but it makes things difficult communication-wise. We do letters too, it seems to be the mos' easy way of doin' things, no frustration on her part." She shrugged her shoulders, smiling still, and tilted her head curiously with what he said next. "Your Pack is very lucky t'have you," she said slowly, though sincerely, "You remind me a lot of my ol' Ulfric and he was the best leader I could've ever hoped to have grown up under. I don' think I would've figured m'self out nearly as easily without a leader like him. I think your Pack's lucky to have you," she repeated again, smiling.

Adelphus Beckett - November 20, 2007 12:22 AM (GMT)
Watching the younger wolf bouncing back and fore, the older one lay down and waited patiently with a grin, nipping gnelty at her when she got close enough but not moving to pounce, simply waiting.

Adelphus nodded and smiled gratefully at Haley's words, glad he reminded her of somebody she knew and trusted rather than somebody she was afraid of.

"Thank you. You are welcome to come see the rest of the Pack any time you like, you can even come live with us if you do not think that is too soon considering we only just met."

Haley Rollins - November 20, 2007 12:30 AM (GMT)
The smaller wolf yipped a bit and bounced backward with the little nips, and finally flopped down on her belly before rolling to her side, and then her back, all paws in the air and tongue lolling out much in the same way a panting, happy dog would, and appeared as if she was 'playing dead'.

Haley leaned her head to one side, his offer both warming her and causing her to consider it carefully. It'd been a long time since she'd actually lived with a pack. But it was what she wanted, family, her own kind. She smiled shyly and ducked her head, hair covering her face. "Would there be room for me? How large is the pack? I wouldn' want to intrude..."

Adelphus Beckett - November 20, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
Chuckling at the antics of the younger wolf, Adelphus' wolf stood and moved over to lick the tongue of the wolf and nuzzle her belly whilst blowing air through his nose so that it tickled her skin beneath her fur.

Patting Haley's back as she hid her face, Adelphus lowered his face to his own knees so that he could stay on eye contact level with her an smiled warmly.

"There will always be room for you, for anybody, and you can either move into the safe house with myself and a couple of other wolves or you can keep wherever you are staying now. It would be lovely to have you Haley."

Haley Rollins - November 20, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)
Haley's wolf squirmed and rolled, using her hind legs to gently grab hold of the larger wolf by the neck, shifting and rolling them both, and then lowered her head enough to nuzzle the wolf's neck as she playfully pinned him down again, sitting up triumphantly once she had, all but grinning.

Haley turned her head a bit, smiling at Adelphus, and nodded slowly. "I'm just in a small apartment near the university campus right now, it's a bit lonely," she admitted, smile still in place, much as it always was. She hesitated, and then offered tentatively, "I don't know how useful I'd be to your Pack, Adelphus. I don' fight very well an'," she paused, unsure of how to word the rest. Though she was submissive, she'd left her other pack because she couldn't bear to be tossed around like raw meat. Though she sincerely doubted he would lead a Pack that would resort to those measures, she still needed to be careful.

Adelphus Beckett - November 20, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
Letting himself be pinned, Adelphus' wolf growled happily up at the other wolf and licked her muzzle gently, laying on his back and looking up at her with his paws on his chest, head tilted and 'smilling' up at her.

"Well you can either move in with us should you accept, or you can come visist as often as you wish Haley. Every member of the Pack is useful though Haley, we all help each other and live as a family, even if we don't all hold high positions, something I consider to be a formality rather than a constant thing. Only my second, Katt, has a status that I do like people to stick to, other than that we are all equal and I just happen to be the one everybody turns to for leadership. I try to keep us away from fighting, but should the need arrise then I am a skilled fighter as are several in the Pack, we would not ask you to fight if you cannot."

Haley Rollins - November 20, 2007 01:13 AM (GMT)
Haley's wolf let out a soft, happy yelp when the other wolf licked her, and she promptly leaned back down and licked the side of his muzzle in return, before flopping down on her stomach beside him, paws stretched out in front of her, and lay her head against them as she stretched out lazily, watching the older, larger wolf and 'smiling' over at him, nuzzling him briefly with the side of her head.

Haley couldn't help but allow her smile to grow again with everything Adelphus was saying. It was like being back home, really, in a Pack where she'd never been forced to fight. Finding her first pack in Florida had been a big of a wake up call for her, she'd had to learn to fight very quickly, and it hadn't ended well. She was so far behind in college now as a result of those fights, of the brief hospitalizations, of the injuries she'd sustained both at the hands of others, and of her own kind. She never wanted to experience any of that again. Her inner wolf actually bristled, feeling her discomfort, and buried her head down into her paws as a result. Haley herself simply said, "I would very much prefer not to fight, if that's possible," and her smile softened almost tentatively. "I can take care of my family an' I'll protect them all with my life on the line, but I'm jus' not a fighter, Adelphus. Thank you."

Adelphus Beckett - November 20, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Adelphus' wolf instantly licked between the other wolf's ears and murred to her gently, comforting the emotion that had caused her to burry her face in her paws, and presed himself against her so that they were curled up and he was warm around her, keeping her safe on instinct.

"Of course it is possible, I have so far managed to keep us away from a single fight, so if I can keep that going then non of us shall have to fight for our Pack. You are welcome Haley. Does this mean you accept?"

Haley Rollins - November 20, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)
Haley's wolf let out a soft snuffle which sounded almost like a sigh, turning her head and lowering it a bit with the warm and comfort from the other wolf, nuzzling him softly in gratitude, instinctively curling up further with the notion that she was safe.

Haley smiled; the idea of the Pack not having fought thus far was a good sign, and maybe even a good omen. She nodded a bit shyly, lifting her head from her knees to look at Adelphus intently for a moment. "I do accept," she said quietly, smiling. "Thank you, thank you so much."

Adelphus Beckett - November 20, 2007 01:58 AM (GMT)
Smiling happily at the sight of their wolves so curled up and comforting to each other, Adelphus returned Haley's gaze and nodded with the smile still in place. Another Pack member, also found on the bech...come to think of the Pack and the Pack grows...all of these events seemed to be stuck on repeat thanks to the fates, but Adelphus was not complaining for the gain of another wolf to his growing family.

"No, thank you Haley. You trust me enough to want to be a part of my family, that means a lot to me. Where will you be wanting to stay?"

Haley Rollins - November 20, 2007 02:06 AM (GMT)
Haley was grinning a bit at their wolves all snuggled up around one another as well, practically feeling the warmth herself, and that only made her grin grow a little. A family again, finally, after so many years of searching, of missing. She hadn't met the rest of the pack yet, of course, there was the chance it wouldn't be a good fit again, but after a short time with Adelphus, she sincerely doubted that would be the case. Her inner wolf was agreeing from her spot, curled up and content, and Haley grinned. "I know a good, loyal wolf when I meet one, Adelphus," she said, very seriously, "I've met my share of ones who didn' quite fit that bill." She paused, head tilting, causing her hair to fall over her face, and she admitted, "I'm not sure. Would there be enough room for me at the house? If it's too much trouble, I coul' keep my apartment. I don' wanna be a bother," she said gently, smiling.

Adelphus Beckett - November 20, 2007 09:11 AM (GMT)
Still smiling, something he seemed to be doing an awful lot since Haley had joined him, Adelphus chuckled and looked at their wolves as he answered then let his eyes rest back on Haley's face. Though her wolf may be getting on well with his own, it was the human's decision where the two would go and so it was the human he was speaking to.

"There are another 8 bedrooms free at the safe house Haley, you can have your pic of rooms."

Haley Rollins - November 20, 2007 01:12 PM (GMT)
Haley knew deep down that it was purely her decision, that no matter what her wolf was saying, she had the final say in the matter. But it had been difficult separating her own heart's desires from her wolf's for a very long time now, as the two were very much one in the same having grown up together. The line between the two was very fine, and very blurred, and sometimes, she just wasn't sure where one ended and the other began.

Lucky for her, they were both in agreement just then, and it didn't take much soul-searching to determine that. Haley was lonely, almost unbearably so, and being around her own, as often as possible, could only be a good thing. She kept her gaze steadily on Adelphus' though it was a little shy in nature, and with the corners of her mouth still tugged upward in that smile that had been there pretty much the entire time they'd been talking, she nodded.

Then, she unburied her closest hand from the hand and touched his with it, and carefully leaned in to briefly rub her cheek over his, nose pointing directly behind his ear, before drawing back in a bit of shyness. It was common Pack greeting, one she'd seen every pack use when one member greeted the others, but Haley was using it as more than that. She was telling Adelphus with the words she didn't have, that she trusted him as pack, and she would join them at the safe house.

Adelphus Beckett - November 21, 2007 07:25 AM (GMT)
Returning Haley's shy gaze with a soft one of his own, Adelphus kept his smile and continued to look at her, thinking happily of this newest addition to the Pack, to the family. Although he knew that this would mean he would have more people to try to keep safe he didn't care, he was already worried about the Pack's safety, as any Ulfric should be, and one more wolf was not going to change that or make it worse.

Looking down at his hand as Haley touched it then tilting his head for the greeting and returning it with a soft growl of appreciation in her ear, he squeezed her hand gently as she pulled back and then let it go so she could have it wherever was comfortable for her.

"I'm glad you feel that way Haley. Now then, do you want to stay here a little while longer or do you want to come see the safehouse?"

Haley Rollins - November 21, 2007 01:14 PM (GMT)
Haley grinned; the safehouse. She'd never much felt 'safe' with her first chosen pack in Florida, but with this Ulfric, the term actually sounded right to her. It was a content, easy feeling in the pit of her stomach, acceptance and understanding, there was nothing about being around Adelphus that unsettled her or made her think twice about joining his Pack. Safe definitely seemed right.

Patting the sand with the hand that'd briefly touched his, she kept on grinning as she joked, "Love th'beach, think it just might be one of the mos' beautiful places in the worl', but after a while every wave looks the same. I think I'm ready to see the safehouse."

Adelphus Beckett - November 21, 2007 05:06 PM (GMT)
Chuckling and nodding to Haley at her joke and the pat of the sand, Adelphus stood in one movement, the fact that his wolf was 'out in the open' so much making him move all the more gracefully, he brushed the sand from his jeans and black t-shirt with the chop for Eternity In Eight Strokes in white on it, and smiled, one hand out to help Haley stand. He was getting used to both the western clothing and short hair slowly, and it felt odd to be leaning in a way that would help Haley stand without the weight of his kimono on his shoulders.

"Very well then, did you bring a car here or do you mind 30 minute walks?"

Haley Rollins - November 21, 2007 05:11 PM (GMT)
"I walked, m'not a big fan of bein' indoors more than I have to be," Haley admitted, somewhat sheepishly, grinning up at him as she took his hand and used the leverage to hoist herself to her feet, both swiftly and gracefully. Her own wolf was so entwined with her usual being that she knew even the smallest movements came across as wolfish, animalistic maybe, to onlookers, but she wasn't ashamed of that. It was who she was. "Did you walk or drive?" she asked, gently shaking the sand from her skirt.

Adelphus Beckett - November 21, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
"I know that feeling, I walked. At the safe house I have a zen garden that I made myself, and I am there more often than I am indoors. I even sleep out there sometimes."

Walking over the sand, moving so that Haley could keep stride with him and their wolves could continue to play and walk beside each other infront of the humans, Adelphus looked back once at the ocean and gave an inward wave to the fates. It seemed that the ocean and himself were to be destined to work well with each other, if it kept bringing him wolves like this.

Haley Rollins - November 21, 2007 05:48 PM (GMT)
Haley's eyes lit up even further, if that was even possible, at the thought of a zen garden, a place to sit outdoors and still be close to 'home', and she couldn't keep the grin that spread clear across her face from appearing. "I haven't slept outdoors in longer than I can remember," she admitted, voice wistful. It had to have been back when she'd still been living in Georgia, she hadn't trusted her first pack in Florida to stay overnight anywhere with them, and it wasn't as if she could go sleep in the courtyard of her apartment complex without having the police called.

As Haley's wolf continued to play alongside Adelphus', she trekked across the sand, little granules coating her toes with each step until they came up to solid land ones more, and she shook her feet clean gracefully.

Adelphus Beckett - November 21, 2007 10:24 PM (GMT)
Laughing and patting Haley's shoulder at the way her eyes and entire face lit up at the mention of his garden and sleeping outside, Adelphus looked up at the sky and scented the air with his eyes closed, gauging the weather. It looked like it was going to stay balmy, they could get away with it easily. If not there was always his gazebo.

"Well if you want to then we can take advantage of the weather and sleep there tonight."

Haley Rollins - November 21, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Haley grinned, taking her own look up at the sky, the clear weather causing her to nod in agreement before straightening up again, looking over at Adelphus as they walked. "Think I'd love that," she admitted, still grinning, still surprised by her string of good luck after a year or so of just passing through, waiting to find others like her, a new Pack, all of it. It was almost too good to be true, but Haley didn't think like that; she was as optimistic as they came, and so she saw it as luck, or a giant blessing, brushing her hair from her eyes with one hand.

Adelphus Beckett - November 21, 2007 11:21 PM (GMT)
Reaching a corner in the sidewalk, Adelphus held one arm out slightly and out of habit looked around the corner before letting both himself and Haley turn along it into the road. The last time he'd just walked around a corner he'd walked right into a grenade and had his girlfriend die, leaving him with the scars on his hands. He had never not checked a corner since, though he was relieved that Haley might just think it was incase there was anybody who would mug them around.

"So Haley, what course are you doing? You said you are a student if I recall.."

Haley Rollins - November 21, 2007 11:28 PM (GMT)
Haley tilted her head and smiled a little bit at the way Adelphus paused at the corner; there'd been a member of her old Pack, Ryan, who'd often walked her to and from the Pack safehouse to her parents' place before and after full moons, and he'd always done that same thing, casually holding out an arm and checking before letting them both cross. It was a small thing, something not many people would notice, but it was familiar enough that it made her smile.

She'd noticed the scars on his hands earlier, when they'd been talking, but that was something she would never ask about, not unless it came up in conversation; she was curious to the death, but she would never push her nose into someone else's personal business. At his question, she turned to look at him and smiled. "Marine biology, I've wanted t'work with dolphins since I was real little, but, um...they're scared of me," she admitted sheepishly, blushing. "I don' think it's goin' so well."

Adelphus Beckett - November 21, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)
Tilting his head, Adelphus put on a pensive face and grinned at Haley.

"Oh so that's why when I worked at the docks the fish seemed to vanish from my vacinity. Thank you for clearing that up, here I was worrying I was stinking of fish repellent."

Chuckling, he continued to walk at a leisurely pace down the sidewalk, their wolves still padding and rolling around next to each other infront of the humans and making him smile, the light-hearted playful feelings from his wolf reaching him and making him want to run around and be playful, but his wolf was doing that enough for him.

Haley Rollins - November 21, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
Haley stopped walking for a minute, and turned her head more fully to look directly at Adelphus, and began laughing, hard. When she managed to calm herself, she shook her head at him. He had a very quiet sense of humor, it was sweet. "I jus' figured they though' I was comin' after 'em with a fishing net or somethin', I like your theory better," she winked, head shaking again. "I wanted t'do specific research on their reactions to Lycans and the undead, but I can't even get close 'nough to 'em to see if that's possible. I think my major's a bust," she grinned, ducking her head and laughing, lighthearted despite the fact that the one thing she'd wanted to do for most of her life just wasn't plausible. It just wasn't in Haley to get down about something unless there was something very wrong, and with the company she'd found, and her wolf darting playfully around Adelphus', nuzzling at him and rolling about, there was nothing even remotely close to wrong. Life was good.

Winking back with a smile, Adelphus waited for her to start walking again before patting her back as she laughed, knowing that despite the laughter she was dissapointed.

"Actually, I think that this could be evidence. You want to see how lycans and the undead interact with marine biology, and the fact that they are scared stiff of lycans is a bit of evidence for you, don't you think?"

They had now entered the park that was a 5 minute walk from the Safe house, and he slowed slightly as they reached it, takikng in the scents and the soft sounds of the multiple fountains and wildlife that ran through it. Even his wolf stopped playing for a minute and just sniffed at their surroundings happily before turning and pouncing on Haley's wolf with a happy growl, enjoying the change of scenery.

Haley smiled brightly, and couldn't help but nod enthusiastically at his logic, because he was right. She reached over and patted the hand he'd touched her shoulder with as she said, "That's a very good point. It can't be a general wolf thing really, 'cause how on earth woul' a dolphin ever come much into contact with a wolf withou' it bein' a lycan? I'm guessin' it has to be a power thing, or maybe a buried natural reaction to the scent of predators in general. Kind of hard t'form a control group for that without outin' myself to the Professor, though," she admitted, smiling shyly and blushing. Nobody on campus knew she was a Lycan; she wasn't ashamed of it, in fact, she embraced it. But she knew it was easier to live and work in society when very few knew what you were.

She felt her wolf's ears perk up, nose rising to greet and inquire about the new sounds and scents lingering throughout the park. Though they'd passed it on occasion, they'd never walked through it, and it showed visibly in both of their reactions to the new surroundings. Haley inhaled, smiling happily at the sense of relaxation surrounding her, and her wolf dropped her nose to the ground, sniffing about curiously for a long moment, before rolling as she was tackled by Adelphus' wolf. She growled softly and happily, nipping playfully at his ear before nuzzling at his face.
