Title: On call.
Description: --Open--

Edward Vheric - October 17, 2007 05:00 AM (GMT)
Early morning Miami was beautiful. The sky was pink and orange, any clouds that might be looming in the sky were gray, not just any gray. That milky, fluffy, wisp gray. The kind that made you think of cotton candy and wool from a sheep. The air felt crisp and moist, the ocean was everywhere you looked mind you, but there was something there, the smell of energy and passion beginning to awaken in a city like this.

Edward took a long drag of the air again and again as he stood in the nearly empty parking lot. Beginnings were never simple, sometimes saying goodbye to everything you've ever known can drain you of what makes you, you. Edward felt that way. Having to move from his life long home had taken that drive out of him, the lust for more and the need for happiness. He had begun to settle into the funk of depression, moving from place to place, staring at the sunrise in each new location, waiting as if it would say something to him eventually. But it never did, and he would move again. His eyes locked on the horizon always.

He had been offered a local job at Miami General. But working day to day for some hospital didn't really suit him anymore. His lifestyle had taken a dramatic change over the last few years, and he felt it best to set up a private practice.
He stared up at the large building, the red cross and lettering still shining "Miami General". Blinking at him, trying to 'taunt' him he thought. It only made him smile. Slipping behind his car, a simple blue late 90's BMW, he popped the trunk and pulled from it a large cardboard box, unremarkable, filled to the brim with no working equipment, only small knick knacks and pictures.

He strutted away from his car and the parking lot, to a small dark brown building, it reminded him alot of the box he was carrying. Small and cramped, just not yet filled. But he would fill it, hopefully with patients. He stood at the doorway, an all glass, metal trimmed double entry, perfect clean with no spots.

Even the doors looked better in Miami.

"Welcome home"

Running her hands through her shoulder-length red hair again, Justice gave a short sigh and stuck her hands into the pockets of her white coat in an attempt to stop her tired and slightly bored fidgeting. She had taken care of all the patients throughout the night and she had another two hours to go before she could get back to the Pard house and sleep.

During these two hours a new doctor was meant to be arriving, and as the newly promoted chief of medicine it fell to her to show him around the hospital, get him settled in, and give him assistance however he would need it until he found his footing.

Hearing an car pull into the near empty parking lot that included her own car, Justice turned to the doors and watched the man who climbed out. Her eyes were pulled to the sunset just as his was but then he turned and looked up at the building, box in hand. There was something about his movements that indictated lycanthrope, but until he stepped through the thick glass doors then she wouldn't be able to get his scent and confirm that. Waiting for him she watched as he made his way through the doors and smiled slightly as the scent of leopard hit her nose. Another male leopard besides her Nimir-raj finally. Well recruiting for the Pard would have to wait until later, doctor work now, leopard talk later.

"Are you Dr Vheric?"

Edward was a bit shocked at finding the moment he entered he was being greeted. His eyes darted up and down the figure of the young girl in front of him, hiding behind the large reflective lenses of his sun glasses. He smiled in mock pleasantries. Giving a small smile and forcing himself deeper into this womans presence.

His knee lifted, supporting the box he was carrying for a moment as he extended his hand for what he hoped would be a brief introduction.
"Edward." he gave the womans hand a firm grasp, feeling a deep prickling sensation roll up his arm and into his shoulder, making all the tiny hairs from every tiny pore stand on end. He dropped her hand quickly, feigning light grip on the box.

"I don't suppose your going to be the one showing me to my office?" he wrapped his arm around the inconvenient mass he was clutching to his chest, his now barely free hand peeling the shades from his eyes. He was curious now, a lycanthrope doctor besides him? Maybe this place was going to be different after all. Hopefully a little more fun.

Shaking Edward's hand Justice's leopard stirred inside her slightly, wanting to see this new male before Justice pushed her back down with the thought of letting her look at him later.

"Nice to meet you Edward, i'm Justice. I'm the chief of medicine here so i'll be showing you to your office and then taking you for the standard tour and letting you ask any questions you need. If you need anything you come to me."

She had thought of asking him if he wanted help with the box, but that would be dumb seeing as he was bigger than her and he couldn't manage to hold it securely without both hands. Leopard or no she'd have a hell of a fight with that box. Heading towards his office first so he could ditch the box, she smiled and motioned for him to follow her.

"This is your office, mine is down the hall and the ones either side of you are for the heads of departments."

Edward Vheric - October 24, 2007 07:43 AM (GMT)
Edward gratefully tossed the box onto his disturbingly empty desk, brushing his hand along its surface as his eyes wandered around the vacant room. Decent sized, smaller then his rest, it would do nicely he thought. He quickly placed a small framed picture onto the desk, the shining glass hiding the photo of his wife and daughter.

He smiled at Justice, still trying to feign politeness. "Well your the boss, why don't you show me around real quick so I can get to work. I know most places prefer to have there first day physicians just sit back and get the feel of things but I would rather just dive right in if that's alright with you." his hands slipped behind him, linking together at his lower back.

He was already closing off, shutting off the delusions that were hitting him from all sides. He didn't want to say goodbye to this city just yet. He didn't much like lycanthropes, hated them in fact. Everyone of there kind he had ever met were violent killers, and being a doctor he was forced to sew them up and dig bullets from there flesh. Deep down he wished he was the one putting the bullets in them. But here was this girl, a doctor like himself. No not like him, 'no one is like me' he scolded himself, biting his bottom lip rather firmly.

Looking up at Edward, Justice smiled slightly at his obvious desire to get straight to work. She had hated having to sit around all day on her first day of work, but with her in charge now he didn't have to at least. Watching him biting his lip she frowned slightly then shrugged it off and turned to lead him out into the hallway.

"Well if you want to get started then i'll give you the whistlestop tour."

-----

30 minutes later they returned to the offices, having seen the entire hospital from top to bottom. It was a shamefully small hospital but it got the job done.

"Is there anything else you need or want before you get started?"
