ABOUT YOUName: JamesAge: 19Contact Info: check my board profileHow you found us: Darla/Artemis/Etc gave the heads upCHARACTER INFOCharacter name: Galeno (Pronounced Ga len o)
Nicknames: Guy, Dark Scribe
Character age: 275/28
Birthdate: 17 June
Gender: Male
Bloodline:Magnus Scientia
Level: Master Vampire
Strengths: The normal vampire strength enhancement, sensory perception, etc. In addition, Gargoyles and Ravens respond to his call. Additionally, he can pull memories and knowledge with touch. He throws off an aura of wise intelligence, like a wizened counselor, and it makes his gaze heavier and harder to resist. He can assimilate additional powers as well, if he can maintain contact long enough to study how they work, and it’s at least marginally compatible with his own power base. Amusingly enough, crosses very rarely glow around him unless the wielder is extremely nervous or Guy is actively doing something untoward.
Weaknesses The normal vampire weaknesses, sun, holy items burn, etc. Additionally, to assimilate another vampire’s power, he must maintain contact for at least 20-30 minutes and preferably longer, and then enter a trance-like state for a few hours, making him helpless. Also, his power base makes him inherently prone to analysis and strategizing versus actually acting, giving him poor response times both in speech and in combat, plus the fact that he’s a scholar, not a warrior.
Weapons carried on person: Two silver alloy daggers, a crossbow with silver tipped arrows, and a wrist mounted air-powered slug thrower with silver plated slugs. All less dangerous than they appear.

Physical description: Galeno is of moderate height for a modern man, although in his own time he was considered slightly tall. He has dark features and skin that still doesn’t seem to have lost its color, even after nearly 3 centuries. His clothing style is in tune with the modern world, if somewhat dark and conservative. He prefers a business casual wardrobe in black with deep reds and blues. He has, however, been known to dress differently if the occasion warrants.
Likes: Learned discussion, debate, reading. Fond of cultural entertainment such as theatre or musical performances.
Dislikes: Pop “culture”, the “atrophy” of intellect and ability as standards of success and social status. Passionately detests warfare
Fears: He fears his own powers to an extent. He fears that one day he’ll absorb a memory that will be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel’s back for his sanity, or that he’ll absorb an ability that will consume him.
Nervous habits: Tends to smoke, somewhat heavily while working. His command of English slips somewhat when he’s particularly stressed or nervous.
Personality description: Generally somewhat reserved. He prefers to study the situation, study possible actions, and then acting in a methodical and consistent manner. He’s a natural diplomat rather than confrontational. However, none of that should delude anyone that he’s incapable of acting quickly or emotionally if necessary, nor that he can be walked on. He believes that everything is knowable and explainable if given the time to study it, and he certainly thinks he has the time.
Take me home to meet mom and dad:Parents: Both obviously deceased. Father was a scholar under the Medici family in its final years and later under the Austrian crown. His mother died when he was very young.

History: Galeno was born in 1732 in the Florentine Republic under the rule of the last heiress of the Medici family and the Elector Palatine. His father was a scholar of the court, and fairly wealthy if not particularly noteworthy. However, 5 years later the line of the Medici came to an end. Shortly thereafter Florence came under the rule of the Austrian crown of the Holy Roman Emperor and Archduke of Austria Charles VI of the Habsburg dynasty. The Holy Roman emperor did not manage to pay a large amount of overt attention to the former Florentine state. However, when his daughter Maria Theresia ascended to the Hapsburg crown, she recognized the value of allowing the sciences to flourish even as she was forced to fight the war of Austrian Succession. In this environment, Galeno was raised to follow his father’s path, although there was some attention given to the boy learning how to defend himself, given the geo-political climate at the time.
His life changed towards the end of 1759 during the Seven Years’ War between Austria and Saxony and Frederick the Great of Prussia. By this time, Galeno was established as a scholar in his own right and citizen of Florence. Through a series of encounters, he met and befriended a master vampire of the Magnus Scientia bloodline. Galeno was generally willing to donate blood to his friend and made some of the first accounts of the effects of vampire bites, although they were mostly destroyed after his “death” by the church.
In late June of 1760 Galeno met with an unfortunate accident while in the presence of his friendly vampire, who was able to turn him to prevent his death. Galeno then learned that the line of vampires in question actually made their home in Vienna at the University of Vienna under the very nose of the conservative Archduchess. The Sourdre de Sange demanded that Galeno be brought to court. For nearly a century Galeno remained in Vienna even as the very face of Europe changed in the face of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic wars. While there he grew in power, becoming a master in his own right.
In 1854 Galeno was “lent” to the Vampire Council as a recorder of history, for even vampires can forget. There he stayed for many long years, most often being in the company of the vampires of the Dragon’s line or of Belle Morte’s. While there, he absorbed many different fighting styles from the Dragon’s vampires and began integrating them to construct his own style. He also learned of debauchery and licentiousness from Belle Morte’s court, although he resistant to the powers of that line, being by the large uninterested in such matters of the flesh.
After a time, Galeno was given to the Master of London for a time, where he remained until the destruction of that master in recent events, although Galeno will not speak of it. Seeing as he was not of Belle Morte’s line, he was not offered the sanctuary of St. Louis, but neither was he beholden to any particular master at the time, as his Sourdre de Sange truly encouraged independence amongst his vampires. Galeno crossed the Atlantic to the United States and has been making his way down the Eastern Seaboard headed towards Miami.
And the rest:Anything else? Not at the current time.
