Physical description: Lir stands an impressive height of six foot three and has a body that seems to be chiseled from marble in the form of the Gods of Old. His hair flows like living water down to the small of his back and often is seem to mimic the former God’s moods and the waves themselves. He is always seem to be standing up straight as can be carrying a certain Fey Pride that is only held by the Royal’s themselves. He can usually be seen in loose fitting clothing that can hide his many weapons and not restrict his movements of the cool tones of the water that he has given up.

Nervous habits: Becoming completely still and obeying what is asked of him, running a hand through his hair, closing his eyes

Personality description: Like the sea that he represents Lir can often be seen brooding when he first arrived in Miami. His time serving as a Queen’s Raven has made him quick to follow orders of a superior and overprotective of his charge. Honorable to a fault Lir will refuse to break any oath given and when not wanting to answer a question will often sidestep it or seek to distract the questioner. The old saying of the fey might as well be lying with how close they cut the truth applies to him as well. He is a warrior first the other parts of him he let die in the queen’s service.

History:
The life line of an immortal is something of legends and the one that was to be called Lir eventually was no different. Though the normal lifetime of a mortal is but a blink to those that time seems to have forgotten that does not mean their lives are not also filled with meaningful events that shape the very thread of their lives. Lir, or as he was once known Aedoin, was born into the very royal courts of the Sidhe themselves. He is not the oldest amongst them but he remembers far back in the beginning when they were placed before the ranks of men as more then Gods.
His parents were an interesting couple, one hailing from the very depths of the ocean as revered as the ruler of one of the great oceans and his mother an ethereal thing of wind and air. It has often been said that the time of Lir’s conception was when the water over took the land and a great storm covered the earth but this is a thing of legend and few whisper about it to this day thinking it is too hard to remember what once was and no longer is. He was born too much jubilation for any Sidhe born within he courts was a celebration for they are rare treasures indeed. He had the power of his Father and the logic of his mother as he was raised in the palace in the depths and the Darkling Throne to learn the ways of the fey people.

When he was of age he set out to the lands of the human to learn about the interesting creatures that seemed to have an infatuation for his people. They were a primitive lot but they held an endearing quality even with their short lives. Sure he could have brought them within the lands of fairy so that they would live forever at his side but that would be causing the very thing that made them interesting to be cut off. No he stayed amongst them and learned there ways and taught them as he was taught. Soon they knew how to craft boats so that they could harness the breath of his mother and glide across the bounds of the ocean. He taught them how to fish so that they would never have to feel the pain of going hungry. It was then that with each generation passing that he was growing stronger as his name was whispered across the villages. When they called out his name he would move faster than the elements to come to their aid when they had gone too far into the ocean or the streams were too rough. It was then that he was worshiped as not a thing of the sea itself where he drew his power but as a guardian of the people. It was through his people that he gained his second hand of power, the hand of protection. Never again would his people fall ill or suffer the slings and arrows of another tribe. Old age was all that hunted them and there was a time of peace.

Peace is not meant to last and neither was this golden time. As the age of reason and science descended upon the growing people so did their reliance on the gods that they had come to worship. When the worship faded away so did the powers that protected them and soon the people that the Sidhe had come to care for were no longer safe from the technology that was brought to their island. They were killed, enslaved, and beaten at every opportunity from the onslaught of the advancing army and he was powerless to stop them. Even fighting amongst their side was enough and eventually like many of the fey he retreated back to their holy places to be forgotten by time but by a rare few. This was the beginning of the passing of Andoic.

Time passed as it always did and within a blink of the eye thousands years passed within the hollow hills. The queens sent out a call to all of the high ranking Sidhe royals calling them to become their guard. Those with the power needed to keep the Queen safe were picked first and it was an honor to serve the royal person in every way. It was not only an honor but it held the chance to be king of Farie until another was chosen. Like all good things that too would pass and eventually belonging to the Queen’s ravens was considered a curse as oath after oath was placed upon them. A Free people forced to be celibate so that the Queen could take their seed when requires so that the royal blood would remain strong then never once picking them did not sit well with the guards. Though they never said anything each man held the pain of the celibacy within them hoping one day that it would be lifted.

When they had become citizens of the United States all of fairy moved their hills to the new world as it was called. With another blink of an eye a siren was discovered part fey and one of the last of her kind. The queen wanting to court favor and have such a powerful figure join her court brokered a deal with the being. She would trade one of her royal guards to her to do with as she pleased so that safety would be assured and in return all she would ask was gratitude. It was a rare gift for the queen to give without wanting something back immediately, but she knew that once the Siren broke through Lir that she would get her first taste of Sidhe flesh and that it would be easy to get her into the courts by then.

Writing Sample:
It is a simple truth that the Sidhe know no fear but that does not mean in some very rare circumstances that they do not feel it. This was one of those rare moments he had been called before the Queen of Air and Darkness alone. There would be no brotherhood of guards that keep each other safe from the wrath of the queen. Entering the black marbled quarters he immediately dropped to his knees a fist on the ground as he lowered his head. “You call and so I have come, my Queen.” He stayed still in what seemed like an eternity holding himself with only enough movements for a shallow breath. Time passed as he saw out of the corner of his eye the first glimpse of pale flesh wrapped in nothing but black fir. In times past that would have ignited the fire that had burned for the Queen but now it only meant one thing, pain.
“Do you know why I have called you here, Lir?” Her voice held the promise of many things; things that would have made him shiver in anticipation if he was not alone with her.

“No, my Queen, I do not pretend to know your mind I only serve and obey.” The words were spoken and he had meant every one of them. The easiest way to survive the Queen was to tell her what she wanted to hear and never an ounce more.

“Always the good one Lir, I think I will miss that the most.” She ran a finger down his exposed arm letting the sharpened nail dig into his flesh trying to gain a reaction. She remembered him oh yes one of the few that truly embraced the pain. “I have a mission for you, you are to go to Miami and protect someone like you would protect me. She is a rare one and will have all the rights I have with you while you serve her.” She ran that finger nail a trail of blood erupting in its place till she angled his chin up to look at her thrice dark eyes. “Do not displease me for I shall be watching.”

He listened and schooled his body from her touches. If he showed weakness now she would hurt him far worse than a simple scratch. He was to be sent from fairy and that thought alone would have been a punishment for any other fey but this one was especially cruel. Lir had given up the sea when he became a Raven for the Queen. She had tortured him with it until the pain was too great that he turned his back on the watery depths, on his father, and his heritage all for his Queen. She knew it and was trying to provoke the Sidhe Warrior but he would not fall for bait. “I will make you proud My Queen; she will not fall for as long as I draw breath.”

“Go then Lir, go to the Siren she is expecting you.” Then she laughed and Lir rose taking a few steps back. One never turns their back to the queen if they expect to keep their skin where they last remembered it. Once he had exited the door he abruptly turns and let the full weight of what she had said sink in. Not only was he becoming a willing exile but she was placing him near the sea with a creature of lust and water. Even with the gift of lifting his geas of celibacy for her it was more than just a double edged sword. She was hoping he would fail to fall into the depths of the sea or destroy himself on the rocks.

Without another word he was boarding the plane to Miami, to his new Mistress that would most likely share the Queen’s love of pain and suffering especially his. This would be another test for the Sidhe warrior one that would press him to his limits.
