Title: Tank sizes?
preacherboy - October 29, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
I will soon be buying a large tank for my family room. Bouncy
I only have about 5 foot of floor space available. worry wart!
My question is: "What size tanks come in 5 foot lengths?" Hmmmm
The only tank that All Glass makes is a 100 gallon.
Does anyone else know of another tank with this footprint? :Help!: Now this should be good!
Birdman1099 - October 29, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
you can get a 120 gallon that is 5 foot wide.
they are quite deep and tall.
Aura - October 30, 2007 02:58 PM (GMT)
That 5 ft, 100 gallon sounds like a good size, preacherboy.
I think it's the same height, top to bottom as the 75 gallon. The taller tanks look really nice, but my arms aren't long enough and I would need a wet suit to do maintenance on those tanks.
preacherboy - October 30, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
Thanks Birdman and Aura!
My arms are too short to clean the 5 foot 120 gallon tank too! dumb dumb
I believe I'll go with the 100 gallon tank that is 5 foot long. the Clap
I just wish I had another foot of room to work with! worry wart!
Jay - October 30, 2007 11:59 PM (GMT)
Ive got a 110G tank that is five foot.
preacherboy - December 13, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
After further thinking about the new tank, my wife
and I have made a change in plans for re-decorating
the family room.
This means I can buy any 6 foot long aqarium I want! Bouncy Bouncy Bouncy
Aura - December 13, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
That's great. Gimme an A!
Did you rearrange or did you have to get rid of something? A sofa perhaps?
preacherboy - December 13, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
We are going to buy a sectional sofa and couch. the Clap
This means moving our two recliners up to the living room
and getting rid of the old couch presently in the family room. peek a boo
Man, I just too excited! Bouncy
I'm still trying to get my wife to join our forum and let her
have the new tank and stock it with whatever she wants. grup hug
I'm hoping for peacocks, but whatever she chooses will be
fine with me! Prboy Now this should be good!
Pseudospecialops - December 14, 2007 04:04 AM (GMT)
Bravo! Who needs furniture when you can have aquariums?
The only problem with Aulonocara is that most of the fish are plain (females and subdom males), so to get that special male you have lots of gray fish. And Peacocks can't be mixed in the same tank (unless you have all males) because they'll interbreed.
cturner - December 14, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
Well Mark I'm glad you and your wife figured something out to get that 6 footer! the Clap That will be a sweet tank no matter what you have in it! Make sure you show some pictures when you have it set up!!! Now this should be good!

I think you should get the tank custom made for your own specs or you can DIY it...dunno idunno

PB, could you re-post your species lists for us? I realized I've lost track of what you're keeping these days, and it makes it more fun to track the progress with your new tank.
preacherboy - December 20, 2007 06:12 PM (GMT)
No problem, Don!
Anything for a good friend like yourself!
How's this?
yodahorn - December 20, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
Mark,
I was just at the new East End Aquatics store just off of old Henry Rd (Stanley Gualt Pkwy). The were stock low due to shiping issues around the holiday, but still had tropheus (4-5 kinds), eretmodus, perotilapia, nice hap and peacocks pairs, calvus, trewasse, fuellerborni obs, etc. When I had visited them at their old buidling that had a larger selection of small africans. That may be the case once they get their next shipment in. You got to check them out.

Thank you very much for the information!
I am always eager to check out new LFS in our area!
I will check the place out right after Christmas!
Pseudospecialops - December 21, 2007 06:29 AM (GMT)
PB, I guess I am working too hard! I looked right at your sig and missed the stock list! Blush
yodahorn - December 21, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
mark - how many of each fish in your signature do you have?
preacherboy - December 22, 2007 12:24 AM (GMT)
Don, oh buddy, you may be working too hard, but I just posted
my stock list after you ask for it! Now, go get yourself some much
deserved rest!
Yodahorn, I have 5 Saulosi (3m,2f), 6 Acei, 3 Rusties, 4 Yellow Labs,
2 lab. trewassee, 3 Blue Cobalts, 2 Red Zebras, 1 syno. erept.
Thanks for asking!

preacherboy - December 22, 2007 04:34 AM (GMT)
Sorry Yodahorn, I have a pair of them that I got
from Birdman!
They are only about 2 1/4 inches right now, but the
male is starting to color up nicely!
Pseudospecialops - December 22, 2007 08:03 AM (GMT)
LOL, Preacherboy! We're on break till January 2, and as many 80-hour weeks as I've been pulling I have team members who have pulled a lot more. During the holiday I can sneak into the office and catch up a little bit without getting interrupted, but most of all I want to catch up on my aquaria!
We completed most of our software deliverables for this big project -- just some small pieces left, most of them not due till January. But January 2 we start with two major prototypes for new software packages.
I'm dying to see pics of your new tank!
yodahorn - December 22, 2007 01:15 PM (GMT)
pb - sounds like your enjoying your obliquedens as much as I enjoy mine. I have 3 (2m/1f) and they are my favorite I am starting to wish I had gotten a group of those instead of the saulosi. Can't wait to see pic of the new tank - very nice Christmas present.
preacherboy - December 22, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
Yodahorn, I may be returning to Birdman's house next month.
When I was there, he had some females.
I may be able to get some.

preacherboy - December 22, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
Yodahorn, I may have mis spoke about the obliquens.
I think that is what they are, but they may be something else.
Contact Birdman and he will tell you for sure what they are.
