Title: Lamprologus similis

oxdeleon - October 19, 2007 06:02 PM (GMT)
Hey all,

I am acquiring a colony of Similis this weekend. The colony consists of about 20 fish. Would I be ok to put them in a 30 breeder 36" long? Or should I stick them into a 55 gal?

Thanks,

Ox

I have no experience with Similis but I do with some other Lamprologus species. I would use the 55g. Lamprologus can be quite nasty during breeding.

Good luck Good Job

I have a WC pair similis along with multiple generations of fry happily in a 20 gal.
I have no experience keeping these as a colonie but I think you would need a very large tank when they pair off for breeding.

I ended up putting them in the 30 long. Its been over a month and all is well. The previous owner kept them in a 20 long with no troubles.

Here are a few photos... Enjoy!
