Our spawning is kind of slow right now, but we've been super busy and water changes are fewer and further between!
Normally, this time of year, we're drowning in fry! The ones that are holding are just spitting in the main tanks these days...I'm kind of tired of all the trouble with the grow out tanks! And tired of trying to move fry out of them once they are old enough.
I'm sure we'll get back into it soon, but right now, we're trying to move alot of our breeders out completely, and focus a bit on the EBJD's. (Now there's a breeding challenge!)

I have a few holding, but nothing out of the ordinary here.

I've had a flurry of nest digging and holding females the last month or so, but not too much more than a wave of activity earlier in the summer.

I now have a record 7 females holding! 6 polits and 1 demasoni and they are still going at it! :Help!: I don't know what I'm going to do with all of them! :Help!:

Just count yourself lucky that they are dwarf and don't hold as many as larger mbuna do!
I think our record demasoni spawn was 25, which is almost unheard of. I don't think our little polits ever had more than 20, if I remember correctly. But, we didn't keep them until they were full adult size, so I'm sure that would have made a difference.
Do you strip them or just let them spit in the main tank?
I was always so hesitant to do that with the demasoni, since they are such strict herbivores. I was afraid they would munch down on some of the fry and I'd wind up with bloat!

I used to strip all of my females and put the fry in a 55g grow out tank. Over the summer my 55g sprung a leak and I just gave it away because I didn't feel like fussing with it. So I just leave the females in the main tank unless they are getting harrassed. Well let see 20 x 7 = 140 if I stripped compared to letting nature take it's course 20 x 7 = maybe 15 (and that's on the higher side).
