Title: What type of declorinator .....

What type of declorinator do you use?? What made you choose it?

I used to use AquaSafe until last month, I had to use too much with one water change (for my 90 g 8 capfulls per wc) and it's pretty pricey for a 16 oz. bottle. dumb dumb

I just switched to Prime because it's a better bang for your buck, you don't have to use near as much to be just as effective (1 capfull treats up to 100 g.). Only downside....it stinks like rotten eggs! roll eyes

I had been using a cocktail of novaqua and amquel for twenty years but have switched to Prime a year ago with no regrets. I agree Prime stinks like rotten eggs but not as bad as Amquel.

I also use Prime!

Yes, it does stink, but from what I've read about its
abilities, it certainly is the best water conditioner on the market.

I buy mine mail order so its not as expensive as the LFS!

Great thread!

I use a carbon filter in my water line. This takes out all chlorine. I change the cartridge every 3 months. (each cartridge is about $3) I have not used a liquid de-chlorinator for 3 years. I've had no problems.

On most of my tanks I use Prime because a little goes a long way.

On my 10 gallon tanks I use Wardley's Chlor Out because a little general store near me was going out of business and had it for 90% off so I picked up several bottles.

As most of you know, I hate any kind of chemical in my fish room and have never used any water conditioners. I do the same as Scott, two carbon filters in the water supply line and changing inserts every 3 month. Works perfect and saves me a lot of money.

Scott

Be careful with that due to the switchover of most municipalities from chlorine to chlorimine.Chloramine is cheaper and works better and most water companies and municipalities are using it.(here in Ontario anyways)

Although your filter will still remove the chlorine you will have straight amonia in the water.

Make sure anyone who is using declor etc that the bottle says it removes chloramine as well!!.I use Aquaplus rigth now but Im switching to CLoram X.Alot less money!

I use API extra strength, 1ml /20G. I've found a baby medicine syringe is the best way to apply.

1Gallon jug good for 76,000G! wabawhat??
