My home office doubles as my fish room. Before Christmas I hope to have the following tanks: 180G, 55G, 45G and a couple of fry tanks.
I also have my computer, books and a stamp album in there.
Is there a point where there are enough tanks in a room at 80 degrees F. that the evaporation creates a humidity problem? IF so, any advice on avoiding it?
Thanks!
Don
I think it depends on the size of your room too. I would just get a dehumidifier for the room. Do you leave the door open to the rest of the house? Keeping your door open might help to keep the humidity down as well. I love my tanks being in the dining room, it helps to keep moisture in the air in the winter! My house gets very dry due to our gas forced heat!
Don, you have seen pictures of my fish room on my website (
http://www.buntbarsch.ca/index_files/myfishroom.htm). Every tank is totally covered with glass plus the shelf unit is totally closed in. I measure the humidity inside the shelf in top of the tanks and the most I get is between 50 and 54 percent. I am quite happy with that and so far had no need for a dehumidifier. The room itself is small and there are 24 tanks in it.
I believe that if you cover the top of your tanks carefully, you should not have a problem with humidity.
Thanks very much for the feedback! I keep the door closed a lot but I also keep the tanks well covered.
I'm not going to worry about it for now!
Thanks,
Don
