Title: Two Yellow Mysteries

Pseudospecialops - August 7, 2007 07:48 AM (GMT)
These are two of my original juvies from the "Mixed African Tank" who rode out my initial tank cycling 6 months ago. I think they're probably hybrids, and their shape suggests two different family trees.

I'm posting pics of them here on the long shot chance that someone recognizes them as a specific species. Any ideas?

I know the photos are not great -- I'll try for some better ones over the next couple of days. Thanks!

Are those really red eyes I'm seeing or is it just the flash?

They almost look like there is some socolofi in them, as far as facial features go.

Huh, you're right -- that silhouette looks familiar. Also weird that they have subtle white bars instead of the usual black.

I'm probably going to set up a "Rest Home for Initial Survivors of My Return to Mbuna Keeping" tank. Unless they get too big I'll let them live out their lives there, but no fry can ever come out of there.

My Estherae from that group seems purebred, but I will need to swap him to an LFS soon so he's a good salable size and I get him out before his solo act gets too dangerous.

the second's body style looks like a yellow lab, but the fin colors suggest it is mixed with something. the body style of the first reminds of some of the victorian species.
