Bought this half moon butterfly betta a couple of weeks ago, and put him in my 40 gallon planted tank. He has turned into quite the hunter. I wasn't expecting to be so entertained by him. He is very active, always stalking something in the leaves and among the algae. I hardly fed him this morning and he's as fat as a horse and STILL hunting tonight. I think he's finding snail babies or something else microscopic. He's very active for a betta. He even goes to the side of the tank with the filter and tries to swim into the current to grab something he has his eye on.

My betta is not as fat as yours, but loves hunting in the crypt forest in my tank. Once I put some shrimp in the tank and he stalked them like a cat and then would pounce and suck them up before they knew what happened.

Yoda- People who keep them in little glass bowls are really missing out on how much more fun they are in a tank. In bowls they just kind of sit there doing nothing. In tanks, they're just like a cat, as you said.

Beautiful fish, Poohbear!
I used to have a betta in one of my tanks and we enjoy it very much!

Pretty beta, PoohBear. We have one in a 20 gallon community tank and you're right, it's so much better than keeping them in a tiny bowl!
