That frontosa looks like a big guy!

after looking at the pics again, I realized that the substrate was different in many of the pics, which spells out multiple tanks. How many tanks do you have?

Cichlidman - September 6, 2008 04:13 AM (GMT)
Yoda,
I currently have 24 aquariums running. I own 70.
1- 125 gal
1- 90 gal
2- 75 gal
1- 58 gal
4- 55 gals.
3- 30 gals
3- 29 gals
2- 20 gals
the rest are 10 gals.
I also have many tanks in storage. I am building a stand to set up my 100 gal now.
I keep mostly Africans. I do keep some American cichlids as well. I have a Oscar, GT, Jack Dempsey, and a pair of Salvini's.

I also have a largemouth Bass named Spanky bigmouth.
Thanks for your interest.

Awesome looking fish, Roger!

Nice pics of spanky too!

But I must confess;

I'm going to be fishing for spanky's relatives later
today and I hope I can catch one bigger than he is!

Now don't worry, I always practice "catch and release!"

Preacherboy,
That is okay. I am a fisherman myself. Spanky was only about 2 inches when we got him. He has grown quite a bit.

Nice fish! As an avid fisherman and NA native fish enthusiast, Tres Bien! to Spanky!

Sweet fish! How long have you had you bass for? What made you decide to keep it?I would have never have thought to keep native fish but it is interesting.Hmmmm

Derek

Well Derek, My son caught him in a cast net catching bait fish. He was about 2" in Febuary. He brought him in and Patty put him in a small tank. He has since been moved to a 75 gal tank. Spanky is close to 12" now. It is legal to have pond caught fish so we have kept him. He is almost as tame as my cichlids.

ADS - September 14, 2008 01:28 PM (GMT)
and the good news their would be if u get hungry you can alwasy fillet him and pan fry

Cichlidman - September 14, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
No ADS he is my friend. He comes to me and eats as I drop his food. He is just like having a cichlid. I don't raise and love fish then eat them. Try raising a dog then get hungry and eat him. I love my fish just like my cat and bird.

Not being rude, but that is not funny to me.

Just out of curiousity.....

Is your bass legal to keep in an aquarium?
I know up here we can keep any non-game fish, but the bass is considered a game fish and as such is a big no-no to keep in a tank.

Cichlidman - September 17, 2008 03:20 AM (GMT)
Lisachromis,
Only because he was caught in a farm pond. He is not considered captive wildlife.

Fish in a farm pond are private owned and not the property of the State of Tennessee. The fish in this pond were bought and stocked from the local Co op.

It is against the law to take them from public lakes and keep in a tank. A good friend that is a Game Warden came by and saw him. He said if it is from a private pond they have no control over them.

Good question though.

Well that is very interesting Cichlidman! This is a really neat subject.Even though Im sure when you started this topic it wouldnt turn into a "bass" subject.I know we cannot keep this type of fish here in Ontario in our tanks.Keep us up to date on how hes doing!

I apologize for the comment if it pi$$ed you off for any reason i didnt mean for you to take it personally the way that you did sorry and i hope you realize i did not want to be mean

Cichlidman - September 19, 2008 01:20 AM (GMT)
ADS,
I am sorry. I thought you were intending that as a smart remark. No hard feelings. I have seen people refer to eatting fish like this and was not happy. I am very understanding. Just close to my beloved fish. We will wind up being friends I am sure.
ADS, you have a wonderful day my friend..
God Bless
