Title: Deformities

Oh my gosh, this is so bizarre. I have culled the entire batch of fry, but there were about 5 - 6 that looked like this.

The female has held normal fry before -- I've never seen any like this ! What could cause such a deformity? yikes

Aura, I've never seen anything like that!

Is the mom old? Maybe it's time to put her out to pasture! Giggly

Mom is about two years old. She did spawn with a brother, but has done that before without these defects.

I don't know if you can tell, but the part that is sticking out at the bottom is the lower jaw. I think that they were somehow able to eat because they were growing.

That's just strange...

Any medications added to the tank at the start of the holding period? Anything different at all?

Absolutely nothing different -- just the same old routine, same male as well. Hmmmm

I wonder if this was something genetic though, since several fry had the same abnormality.
