Really cute little fish.
What is that clay cave? It's unique looking.

Aura, it is a breeding cave for calvus and compressiceps. I met a guy at the ACA convention that gave them to me to try.
He is at cichlidbreeding.com Take a look at all the different caves he builds.

it sure is unique looking
I'm going to take a look at those caves for my calvus......it looks like a good idea as a substitute for shells, because I would imagine it is hard to find the right size shells....these clay caves are simple and seem like they would be effective.
thanks for sharing the pics Tres Bien! .....I always love looking at pics of other people's alto's

I thought that female Calvus/Comps needed to be hidden from the males in "shells" such as a conch or others alike?
Wasn't that the sole purpose of getting shells big enuff only for the
female???? So the male canott be to agressive on the female during spawning?
That "breeding cave" looks like it's big enuff for both the male and female??
Nice fish by the way,,,you're going to love them when they mature!!!! Tres Bien!
I've got some pics of my "old" stuff in this same section,,but heres a pics of the Red Fins I once had.

I agree with the size of the hole in the cave. I expressed my opinion to Don on the holes being smaller as to keep the males out.

Thanks so much for the pics. I hope mine look like that.
