Yoda, no it is a Rubin Red. Aulonocara Sturartgranti (Rubescens)
I have some Mdoka's which are very much like like a flametail. More tellow than the redish orange on the flametail.
I thank you for your thoughts anyway.
Thanks everyone.

Love those Ruben Reds, Roger!
Thanks for sharing!

Very nice stock!Yes I agree that the Ruby is not a Ngara/Mdoka flametail. The Mdoka caries more orange/red down the length of the body. The Ruby has its colour differential in the shoulder hence why they are also known as "red shoulder peacocks"
Derek
OBTW just to clarify The mdoka and Ngara are both flametails.as Larry told me they are a ten minute boat ride from each other and as there is virtually no differences between them they save the gas and just collect them out of Ngara

Well that is good to know. I have 4 F1 Mdoka's.
I plan to add one of the 2 males to this tank. I am planing to add a Electric Blue Fryeri to the male tank. Pricing a Lawanda tomorrow from a friend.
Thanks Derek...

Hey Roger, I too have a colony of F1 Mdoka's!
I have around 10 or so at this time, but only 1 male will color up
in my 125 tank!
Cichlidman - August 16, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
I only have 1 of the males that has really colored up. The other you can tell is a male, but never colors completely.
