Description: :(

Sorry guys, been a while since i have logged here. I have been really busy with work. Well lets cut to the chase. Went to Dallas for 2 weeks, didnt think i would have any problems with letting the wife feed my fish, came back to two dead frontosa, a wrecked car and 900 bucks missing. WELCOME HOME JAMES! hooooray. The dead fronts were upsetting but it is what happened two days after my return. Got up in the morn and I was going to do some water changes, I figured I would start on my cyp tank. When I got to the tank I noticed that 2 of the cyps were dead and many others were acting strange. FREAK out time (I had to get my holding females out). I set up a 10 gallon faster than I had ever before and scooped out the two holding females who decided to spit when i netted them, got both of them into the 10 gallon with their babies. Now it was time to start draining the 55 before the rest of my cyps croaked. Hooked up an extension to my fluval 404 and just let it pump into the sink. By the time I had gotten most of the water out 5 more cyps died. To make it short, the only cyps that I could save were the two females, one of which died the next day. I lost 16 cyps, all adults, many breeders :( All I have left is one adult female and 11 fry. So I think oh my it cant get any worse......WRONG! Pretty much same thing happened to my wild caught multies, I was able to save 2 multies, both male......what a welcome home for me.

Oh no, sorry to hear that James. What a terrible loss.
Do you have any idea what caused the problems?
JamesRiggs - July 11, 2008 12:37 PM (GMT)
None whatsoever! :( All my water params check out ok, im concerned something got sprayed in the air and got in the tanks.

Very sorry to hear about your losses!
It does sound like something got into the tank that poisoned them.
I hope you can raise up some adult males and get another breeding
pair from your cyps!

Oww I can honestly say I know how you feel
At one point I almost completely gave up fish keeping.(this story will maybe make you feel a little bit better)As you know I keep wild caught fish.Well just got an order in of some amazing fish.Peacocks ,mbuna etc.About two days after I started losing fish.Ok no biggy transition issues. Then I started losing entire tanks of breeeding groups.Ok Im freaking out now!Im testing for everything.Clout the tanks(Which I never use meds BTW) Still entire tanks are dying off.To make along story short.About $3500 later in loses I finally think to check my PH level. Now FYI my water PH is ALWAYS constant around 7.2-7.6.Well as you can guess my PH level when I tested was below 5!! Spring thaw apparently causes a PH drop. Now I always use baking soda in every water change to make sure.A very disheartening and expensive lesson.
Anyways maybe just check the things you didnt think to check and you may find your answers

Still no answers as to what killed them Ph was perfect......Went to ACA convention and met a breeder there, bought some killer fish, cleaned my fluval 404 on my tropheus Sp. Livua tank then went to bed. Wake up in the morning to find that my 404 had died in the night and all of my Livua dead! Hasnt been good, fortunately all of my Tropheus sp. Moliro are still thriving. My firefin comps for some reason wont eat while I watch so I dont even know if they are eating. They didnt respond to well to live brine shrimp today so im getting worried, they are still active and still look great, but I am worried none the less. Now I leave to go to Dallas for another week........I dont want to and I am afraid that I will come home to countless dead fish........

Sorry to hear of your troubles James.
Seems like you are more concerned about the fish than the CAR and the missing $900.00????????????? On the Floor Laughing
Did you ask the wife if she did anything different in that room while you were away? You said something may have been sprayed?????
Hope you find the problem soon,,,good luck.
AP.
By the way,,,,where are you from,,,I know Les has been trying hard to get rid of some Fronts if your intereseted. He's got Breeding Burundi and 35-40 3-4 fry.
He wants to get rid of ALOT.

I am in Huntsville AL. Well I see it this way 3K damage to my car = fixable.
900 dollar stimulus check missing, filed for replacement, will get another one. Dead frontosa and a loss of a whole colony of wild caught cyps and multies = ....cant bring em back to life. I am concerned that she may have sprayed air freshener or something, but I dont think she would admit to it.

Hey James,
it's Roger my red fins are eating fine. Patty said boil a egg and give them some finely ground egg yoke. Ours go crazy for that.
Hope you find things better when you get back this time buddy.
