Beautiful! I love the top two photos. Tres Bien!
yodahorn - June 16, 2008 11:24 AM (GMT)
I especially like your new Satanoperca leucosticta. They are a more attractive version of the jupari.

Wow Klaus, not bad for non-Africans. They look like very nice additions. The dorsal fin on the heckelii is really something!
cturner - June 16, 2008 02:10 PM (GMT)
I'm with Aura! That dorsal is awesome looking! Very nice fish Klaus!
Kim - June 16, 2008 02:50 PM (GMT)
They look amazing!
Any chance of a full tank shot?
preacherboy - June 16, 2008 03:06 PM (GMT)
Beautiful fish and pics, Klaus! Bouncy
I liked the Heckelii the best, but those Cryptoheros Nanaluteus
were also very awesome! Drooly
The Cryptoheros in the background of the pic has some amazing colors
throughout its body! the Clap
Thanks for sharing, friend! Tres Bien!

Very cool fish Bunntee, and great pics as always!

Very nice fish Klaus. That female nanoluteus in the background is absolutely glowing. I believe they are unquestionably the most beautiful of all the Archocentrus/Cryptoheros. And the myrnae are the ugliest Nanananaa
In all seriousness, beautiful fish all.

Hey buddy, not very nice. These poor little guys are on the
"Red List" and deserve to be kept alive. I have the myrnae and the nanoluteus registered with the ACA C.A.R.E.S. program.
I am awaiting two more earth eaters within a few weeks.
Satanoperca lilith and the one I am waiting to find for the last 15 years:
Retroculus xinguensis

I am extremely exited to finally be able to work with this beautiful cichlid and hopefully to succeed inbreeding them. During Lee Newman's visit at my fish room I had a chance to pick his brain since he is one of the very few that have been able to breed these fish. Hopefully this will help me too.

Hey Klaus, didn't mean to offend you. In one post you had pictures of my favorite and least favorite species of the genus. Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that. I've kept all of the genus but C. altoflavus, and something about the pink and yellow colors on my myrnae made me queasy just looking at them blinky
I had heard the myrnae were threatened due to pesticides used on the banana plantations. Do you know if this is what is placing them on the redlist?
Cheers!!!

Absolutely no offense taken Cheers!!! You are also correct in your statement Tres Bien!
The pesticides used on the banana plantations is the main reason and a very big problem especially in Costa Rica. Several members of my home club
DRAS are also members of
COTERC (The Canadian Organization for Tropical Education and Rainforest Conservation). These people maintain a biological research station in Costa Rica and several members go there every year and the information they bring back every year is not very pretty.
