Title: lip-locking

During and after just about every water change, these two have to go at it. The auratus always breaks it up.

And in another tank, it's these two and again the auratus stops them (or at least tries).

In between bouts of lip-locking, they take turns chewing at each others sides. I have no idea why they allow this, instead of swimming off. It's always the same routine. fishy

Great action shots Aura! My polits and demasoni did the same thing but about 30 min. after they always seemed to calm down.

with a title like lip-locking I wasn't sure what I was going to see.

Nice pics, Aura!

My fish seem to go banannas right after a water change as well, but they
calm down pretty soon afterward.

Do you re-arrange the decor in the tank?

Even if you disturb the substrate somewhat, they may be fighting because
they think their territories have been changed.

Thanks for sharing and again, cool pics!

Sorry to disappoint, yodahorn. On the Floor Laughing

I don't usually rearrange anything in the tank. It's funny though because they will start doing this as I am beginning to remove the water and just continue throughout the change.

And it's amazing how tight they are gripping each other. The yellow lab/zebra mixes will let me put my hand around them and they still won't let go. They have been doing this forever and don't do any serious damage. They provide plenty of entertainment for visitors because a lot of times they will also do it when anyone approaches the tank.
