Title: Escargot Shells
Description: Additive for Cichlid Tank?

JD1960 - March 31, 2008 04:32 PM (GMT)
I have what may be a stupid question.
Is it productive to put Escargot (empty sterilized) in
a Cichlid tank? Size 1.5 inch across.
Would that be for Fry to hide?
Or is there something in the chemical make up
that would be beneficial?
Thanks
JD

It's not a stupid question.

First, escargot shells are often good homes for shelldwellers from Lake Tanganyika. If you have alot of them, then can affect hardness and pH somewhat (but this will depend on your own local water).

So it would Raise the PH?
