Title: I know why my Utinta Cyps were dieing.

AT first I thought I just got crappy batch of juvies... they were at 1-2" and all died within two weeks. Then I said... WTF no other fish has ever died on me so what gives and I got 12 WC adults. After a month I am left with 6.

The reason for all this mess??? A colony (10-7m03f) WC Enantopus!!! These guys were stressing the Cyps so much that they were simply dieing from stress. The Enantiopus are constantly displaying charging through the tank back and forth up and down... I have moved the remaining cyps (6) to a temp 10G tank and they are doing great. Eating, swimming, displaying.

I tried to get help but no one ever thought that the other fish could be the culprit. Everyone was asking about water quality, food, equipment and so on and on. Just goes to show you that sometimes the answer to fish illness is the simplest one.

Just sharing this in case anyone else has or might have similiar problems.

Tom, I had a tank with Cyprichromis and Enantiopus but in my tank it was the other way around. The Cyprichromis males stressed out the Enantiopus and drove them out of the tank (literally).

Thanks for sharing this -- we can't be reminded too many times how often the reason for fish stress is other fish.

Nice thinking on your part to figure it out.
