Title: Try and figue this breeding mystery out

Hey guys,
OK, three days ago i separated my eureka peacock male from his 2 girls becuase he was beating them up BADDLY. Both were pretty skiny, nipped fins and scales floating in the water :S. so tonight i went into my fishroom to feed them and what do you know, no male and one of the girls is holding... So i came to the conclusion that maybe the trio i bought was really a reverse trio with a very subdominent male desplaying no colour. Hmm... to i pulled the other one out, vented it, CLEARLY another girl, with NO doubt in my mind. The only other possibility that i can thing of is my Kandeense colony is in the tame tank, but there is a 1/4 inch acrylic divider with very fine holes in it. Is it possible that they bred through a thick diider like that?
My male kandeense has been displaying as i have 5 new mouthfuls from the group in the last 2 days, but do you think he could of done this to the female on the other side?
Either way, the eurekas were split up for a reason, to get healthy to breed in a few weeks, so i imediatly stripped here so she wouldnt become skinnyer and these could quite possibly be hybrid fry anyways.
Oh, and no she definetly did not breed with the male a few days ago, i have been inspecting these everyday.

I had a lone female in a hospital tank recovering from being beaten up and several days into it, she was holding a mouthful of eggs. She was completely alone in the tank. A couple of days later she was no longer holding. In this case, I think she was holding unfertilized eggs.

That would be my guess for your situation as well.

Yeah I would tend to think the same as aura, but I have heard of fish breeding thru dividers already too.

Well, you'll find out in about 4 days if the eggs are any good.

If she holds past that, then you have to work out if there's a submale or .... somehow the male kandeensis was 'naughty'.
