I've seen these fish and they are still incredible!
What a find at Wally World!
You must be living right, heh? (No offense to Canadians)

Wonderful work, Klaus!!! the Clap the Clap the Clap

I remember them as well. You never know what you'll find in the most unexpected places.
The fins on that male are so pretty, especially that tail. I guess there aren't any jealous "nippers" in the tank with him?

They are beautiful, Klaus, and I can easily understand your fascination with them! Such tiny little fireballs they are!
Did you do anything special to get them to spawn, or was it just the "Klaus golden touch"???
I've started giving my guys bloodworms a couple of times a week.
I don't notice any nipped finnage with mine, either. When they fight, the generally do it nose to nose...No sneaking up from behind with these little warriors!

  idunno Hmmmm Giggly Giggly No such thing Kim!!!
I just feed them the "good" stuff like blood worms, mysis, frozen BS etc. There is no special attention being paid to the water parameters. The only thing I do is add some drift wood to soften the water a bit.
Then I leave them in peace, enjoy watching them and be PATIENT.

Actually, I doubt that I could get a successful spawn out of these rams, too many other fish in the tank!
Are they pretty aggressive at spawning time? Do they defend their area pretty well? (Mine seem to be excellent "head butt-ers"!)

Yes Kim, these "little" guys grow "10 feet tall and bullet prove" when defending their eggs and fry. It's fun to watch them. I sure hope you get them to spawn.

I picked up a coconut shell yesterday for them, they didn't seem to like the flower pots too well. The male Apisto seems to have laid claim to the shell, so I will pick up a couple more and put them back in the plants for the rams.

Very gorgeous Klaus! Ever since I saw them I have decided I want some to go in with my discus! I think they are soooooo freaking cute!

Steph, Superpet in St. Catharines has a ton of them, they are on sale right now for $5.00 a piece, and they have some really nice looking ones. And...Larry had some at Big Al's last weekend when we were in, along with the German Rams, which I also think are very cute!

I love the german rams, but they are so sensitive. I have horrible luck with them. idunno
